Everyone,

I know Pinyon Pines in Gorman/ Hungry Valley Lockwood Miller Trail. Off of the 5 freeway.

I know a little bit about John Bull very difficult 4 wheel drive only Big Bear.

I know Sherman Pass Lake Isabella but it could be cold at higher elevations?

What does everyone want to do?

Mark

Ohh yeah, let's do John Bull!

I did that years ago and would love to do it again.

The weather would be perfect up there right now too.

I don't remember it exact enough to find it again though.

And where would we camp for the night?

Mark, do you know it enough to lead?

You should call the discovery center in BB before you go.  I know John Bull just reopened but many trails are closed until mid-may according to the Ranger I spoke with about 3 weeks ago.  Also check if the yellow post sites are open yet for camping.  A few weeks ago only 2 were available.

If you're going to do JB which is a very difficult trail you should also see if Gold Mtn is open.  For a more intermediate run check out Jacoby Canyon.

Video from a group that ran John Bull last weekend.

Well for some reason I'm unable to get the video to embed.  Here's a link if you want to see it.  http://ruggedrocksoffroad.com/forum/index.php?topic=805.0

Yeah Hungry Valley OHV is always good and you could take Alamo Mt up and run Miller down if its open?  Call to check

For Big Bear, JB is too much for most, event next weekend for those with lifts, skids, bumpers:

Planning something for next month 5/23-24 for Kern County, lower elev Lake Isabella.  Pass is closed, snow.   Jammed up this WE between the kids and work stuff otherwise I would be going out with.

Fishing Season opens next month in the Sierras, The N. Fork of the Kern above Issabella has some good fishing - maybe camp by the river and do some day runs? I have riden (horse) from there to Kennedy Meadows on the East side, I think there are some forest trails/roads that go through. I'll get out my topo's and see what looks interesting.

I'd be free to make this run - last time at Hungry Valley my 4wd wasn't working, but much has changed since that trip...
