Hey everyone.  The guys over at Rugged Rocks Off Road asked me to post up here and invite you all to the Hillbilly Hoedown that's being organized.    To start off in bad form I have to tell you that I can't make it due to prior plans but if you want to get out on the trails and play your instruments (no not that kind) around the campfire sounds like it should be fun.  I've copied and posted the details...

Date : friday, may 1st, 2009
Location:Heartbar yellowpost sites off of hwy 38 .
trail : heartbreak ridge, and whatever else we have time for..
Ham: 145.220
CB: 22, 4 if 22 has chatter
Bring an instrument (unamplified) for the backwoods hillbilly hoedoown! i will be bringing my banjo which i do NOT know how to play!
Please post if you are going,
1. how many people
2. when you will arrive
3.what food you are bringing
4.what instrument you are bringing

Would probably be best if you click here and sign up.  Thanks  http://ruggedrocksoffroad.com/forum/index.php?topic=679.15

Sounds like fun.  I'll give it a try to represent the Xterra's that day.  I probably won't bring an instrument though.  Does anyone know the directions to where they are meeting?  I'll check their forum anyways.

I'll try to post up better directions.  It's off HWY 38 which is known as the back way up the mountain.  Most maps will show the heart bar campsites.  If you haven't camped there it's great.  There's your typical parking lot camping right at the entrance off HWY 38 but if you continue down the dirt road a couple miles you can get some great secluded sites.

Last year we had a bear roam into our camp at 2 in the morning.  Pretty scary.  It stood up on its back legs right between two of our tents.

SSlide, I talked to some jeep/bronco guys that are going - they said it is going to be a pretty big event. I am seriously thinkin about going unless something comes up. Leave Friday - ret. Sun? I've camped there before - 50 mins from Mentone at the bottom of the hill.

Heartbar Camp is Off the "back" route through Mentone (about 1 hr from the bottom of the mtn.) The turnoff is about 2 miles before Onyx Summit.

The Quinn Family is gonna roll on this one.

It sounds like this should be a good turnout, good runs and a good time to be had.

Count us in for 2 adults and 2 (maybe 3) kids.

Hey Blackx,

do we just post up here or do we need to post on Rugged Rocks forum to add us to the headcount for the group camping spot?

I just posted over on the Rugged Rocks forum that the Quinn Family is rolling on this one.

We are going to roll into the campground Friday late afternoon/early evening.

I hope we have some good XTerra representation on this run.

Here is the link on google map.

So, who all from SCCX is going for sure?

Just saw this on thenewx, post from Steevo (over at ruggedrocksoffroad.com):

Quote
I just talked to Phulcrum (who started planning this trip) and due to a series of unfortunate events... the hilbillie hoedown has been canceled.

But. If we have at least 3 or 4 rigs that want to do a day run on saturday, I'd be willing to lead it.

Due to the fact that the Hillbilly hoedown has been canceled and i know that people want to go wheeling this weekend. I'm willing to lead a run somewhere in the Silverwood, lake arrowhead or big bear areas as long as we have at least 3 or 4 rigs going.

I know this is very last minute, but if you are interested in a run this weekend, please post here so i can get a head count, also include trail suggestions.

The Cleghorn Trail may be an option that may be of interest to most.
Also the East end of John Bull or Jacoby cyn. are options as well... i'm open to other suggestions.

Please reply here: http://ruggedrocksoffroad.com/forum/...hp?topic=819.0
that way i can keep the head count all in one place.
