Didn't allow enough time to plan and there are a few too many events around the same few weekends. I will make sure my next trip planned is better managed! Sorry guys.
Couldn't remove the topic myself... please take this one down until a later date. Thank you!

camtherealtor +1
Weather/Temps:
Daytime: High 60's-Low 70's
Night: High 40's-50's
My past experiences:
The drive is pretty nice up the 395 towards Big Pine, then it heads east into the valley.
Eureka Dunes Dry Camp is located at 37.111237, -117.680773. It's about 7-8 hrs from San Diego.
There is a $20 vehicle entrance fee to get into the park. I am not 100% sure that there is a checkpoint coming in from the east. It is set up similar to Joshua Tree where you pay at the booths by the campgrounds, but there are multiple other ways into the park ;D
There are "camp sites" at Eureka Dunes. They are first come, first serve and fires are only permitted in their fire rings so that could be a problem as well. We definitely need a fire with temperatures dropping down below 50...
I am planning on driving up to Big Pine or Lone Pine (Alabama Hills) on Friday to stay the night and then we can start driving into the park Saturday morning!
Here is a link to the rules and regs of the park: http://www.nps.gov/deva/parkmgmt/rules-and-regulations.htm#campfires

Nice Cam...hopefully you get some takers.
We are saving our "go time" for the upcoming Mojave Road trip. Have fun and take "lots of pictures." ;)

Another DV I won't be able to make. We got Mojave and a week in Zion and Brice coming up.

Thank you! I am thinking I might have to postpone the trip to a time when there aren't so many other events going on...

And, honestly, try to give the group time to plan...we just got back from a trip and there's another in mid-late April....the Mojave Road trip planning began in November if I remember....that's a solid 5mo ago
Just my .02
EDIT: Mojave Rd trip planning started in October; Bradshaw Trail was November

Will do. Definitely didn't consider all that.

hey Cam
no worries man....I like your enthusiasm and there will be plenty of time to plan Xcursions....Mojave Road is coming up and I saw you're on the waiting list....
Don't sleep on that one bit....people drop out left and right and if possible, be ready for it up to a week prior....and it's an amazing trip....just make sure Ghost keeps his phone close.... ;)
-
Yeah, echoing what has been said so far, I'd love to go, but it's a bit early notice, as I have to reschedule work if I leave for a weekend. Definitely have it sometime later on though!
-
There are also the random posts of folks jumping into the desert or Big Bear etc. A lot of trips might take some awhile to plan out especially if they have family such as Mojave, Bradshaw or Moab etc. On the flip side, I'm always jumping out into the desert or other local spots just because I can and it's a nice getaway so don't get discouraged. Plenty of wheeling to go around here to be sure. The Food Truck nights are a great place to plan impromptu runs with the guys then post up your ideas.

Will do! I love it out there and definitely want to hit it up before it gets 100+. I'll keep the post updated.

That sounds great. I am definitely down for last minute get-aways. Those are the best and *usually* don't need too much prep :D
Side note... Just figured out how to quote multiple conversations in a reply... will do that next time!
