Topic: Getting new tires soon. Need to do Melt Mod and need help.

Hi folks. So, I am going to be getting some new 17x8.5" wheels and LT285/70R17 tires very soon and want to do the melt mod so that they don't rub. I don't own a heat gun or hair dryer, so if I go out and buy one to do this mod myself, I feel like my ADHD would kick in and I would most likely burn holes through my wheel well liners.

So, with that said.... is there anyone with prior melt mod experience that would be willing to help me out? If you don't own a heat gun, I can buy one and get a small piece of 2x4 as well. I live in the Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga area, but am willing to travel to some of the surrounding areas if need be. Thanks in advance!

Buy the heat gun at Harbor Frieght, they're cheap and once you have it, you will wonder how you ever got along without it:  Melt mod, shrink tubing, removing stickers, speed up glue curing and paint drying time, bend PVC bipe, defrost feet when working late in the garage, heat yesterday's burrito, fill hot air balloons, or just use it for silly stuff

That was my thinking exactly and I will probably buy one anyways, but for the melt mod, I would rather have someone with prior experience help me or I will probably get impatient and hold the heat gun too long in one place and start melting or punching holes through the wheel well liner until it looks like Swiss cheese, haha.

heat gun also brings the plastics back to looking new if they get faded a bit.
