Geocaching in Big Bear for CANVAZ II
« on: October 12, 2012, 03:22:20 PM »
Gear up and load up folks...on the Rattlesnake Canyon trail we will be exploring some cool geocaches.

Check out the CANVAZ II thread for more information on the caches we will be checking out.

Hint:  They will be a "miner" distraction.  ;D

Well, due to time constraints we were only able to grab one cache, Longhorn Springs.

And it probably wasn't the best representation of a great geocache find...it was in a field of cow dung.  "Okay kids, follow John through that field of pooh...oh, and when you get back to the car don't touch anything!"  Wet Ones and hand sanitizer to the rescue.

Sorry about that folks.  Next time we will geocache in a "pooh free" zone.

For those of your fortunate enough to attend the Gold Mountain run, you saw an excellent example of geocaching on the talus slope.

I still want to grab the one in a mine along Rattlesnake canyon.  It was placed in 2002 by and Xterra owner who was there with his Xterra club called SCCX.
This isn't Santa's Workshop.  This place smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me.

If any of you missed John's Team SCCX pooh field cache write-up that he posted along with the 2N02 group SCCX banner pic on geocaching.com, here you go.  Longhorn Springs

Team SCCX lives!! Our first team find in 8 years...wow! The Club ran Rattlesnake Canyon as a part of the annual CANVAZ II event, bringing Xterra enthusiasts from California, Nevada, and Arizona together for a weekend of wheeling and fun. We had a good group on RSC today, with 18 trucks and over 40 people. This was the only cache we logged today as we had to keep the group moving. Several children on this run, so hopefully the field of cow patties we had to traverse to get here wasn't too stinky!!! Good times...TFTC!!!

This is my busy season for work....July to December so the last couple of months I've been putting in the hours.  Feast or famine as they say.  I wanted to go to BB but didn't get home until late on Friday and needed a break.

I'll try to pop in here a little more often to delight everyone with my wit and charm.  ;D
