This picture is where the quote of the run came from.
John- "Hey Marc, did you want to hit your bumper."
Marc- "Ah..."
John- "Too late."

Marc's attempt at the squeeze.  I'll let Marc tell the story.

Great pics Marc & Matt...I'll add a few tonight when I get home.  Had a great time on this "officially unorganized" run with everyone.

Marc, Matt, Jim, Scott, Amber, Chris & Harley, a good trial group for sure.

Trail camaraderie for sure was established, as evidenced by all of the good natured bench racing/campfire banter.  ;)

Damn - I had finally buried all thought of that cattle guard deep away in the dark emptiness of my shallow mind :o And then someone has to go and resurrect it  :-[

I remember hearing about the infamous cattle guard but didnt know it was this one.  I parked right on top of it for a few minutes, so looks good now!

Tom- When are you gonna head out with the San Diego crew?

The run you just did sounded like a perfect run for us.  Sheep Cyn has one of the best campsites in Borrego.  But Sat was Shannon's birthday and we had tickets for Joe Koy at Spreckles so no go for us.  I've always wanted to do the squeeze and heart attack hill but that's one run I never wanted to do solo and haven't been able to join up with anyone.  I heard that the rocky hill of doom is now a pleasure drive suitable for any Subaru.  Did you guys make it up to Sheep Cyn and do you even need 4x4 to get up there anymore?  I hate to think of what's now going to happen to Sheep Cyn and the secret waterfall frogs if that area will be easily accessed by all yahoo's  ::)

And this new SD underground crew sounds like the type of peeps that could tolerate our participation so I'll keep looking for posts about runs.  Pancake Rock is an outstanding run and only 20 minutes away from Viejas.  Also Tabletop Mtn, Smuggler's Cave/Valley of the Moon, Borrego Mud Caves, the infamous stinky/stanky Vallecitos River to the old stage coach stop in the south eastern part of Borrego or Painted Gorge are all ready for desert season.   8)

Yep, you'd fit right in Tom!!  I've been thinking about Valley of The Moon with stops at Smuggler's Cave, Blue Angel Peak, and Elliot Mine.  That would be a cool day trip!
We will be planning something in January, so hope to see you out there.

I've been thinking of doing those runs again soon too.  I hope to have my new rear suspension in by early Jan. I ran them before and I want to run them again to compare.

Wow.  Tom's talking publicly about returning to the "cattle guard of doom."

Sheep canyon is a nice spot.  Have wanted to go back there for a while and have a cookout.  I think the last time I was there was with you Tom, when we all went there for Eric's pre-deployment run.  That was the time the boy scouts camping there all ran up to us asking for water while the adults with them stood around looking retarded.
I like sammiches.  And bacon.  Sammiches with bacon.  And chips.  Lots of chips.

Yea, that was the 3rd, high attempt didn't pull it.  we tried on that lower ledge but the right kept dropping tilting me into the rock..  titan swap is 5" more front track width..  Perhaps we needed to stack a couple of rocks on the passenger to keep it from leaning in perhaps titan Swap too wide for it.

Looks like fun! I Would like to make it out to some of those trips, although I don't think my X could make it through some of those rockier trails.

Bobby - the "scouts" were just used as the reconnaissance team sent in by the adults to test out our willingness to provide handouts.  The adults were going to sheepishly wander in after dusk to "thank us" for saving the scouts from dehydration in a veiled attempt to score some of our adult refreshments  ;D  What's that Boy Scout Motto  ???

Hey Tom, good to hear from you.  You should definitely take these guys out to Vallecitos River (or Creek, or whatever it's called).  That was a fun trip (well, except for the smell).

I thought that cattle guard looked familiar.
