Well, this was my first trip to Death Valley, and needless to say it is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen in my life.  I think I need an entire weekend there to take it all in again.  It was a purely tourist trip, so we took the wife's car for MPG's sake, no off-roading for us on this trip.  Anyway, here are some pics.   O0

Awesome shots, looks so beautiful out there right now. I wish I could make a weekend trip out there sometime during March. This stupid move to the new house is killing all of my fun.  O0

I was there a couple of weeks ago and the road up to Warm Springs was completely yellow as far as the eye could see, pretty amazing.

Yeah, definitely get out there before the dead of the summer.  I'm not sure how long the flowers will be around, but there are still small buds that haven't bloomed yet.

I'm not 100% positive where that's at, Google Maps isn't doing very well at showing it.  We come in on 190 and went south to Badwater Basin and then doubled back. After Stovepipe Wells, the colors were pretty awesome.  As we went further south, the flowers were still good, but not quite as abundant as the north part of the Valley.  We heard many people taking about coming in from Beatty and they said those fields were solid yellow.

Warm Springs road is a cut off miles south of Badwater near the south end of West Side Road.  Its the 4x4 road you can take to get into the back country like Butte Valley, etc.  A friend that works at DV recently posted some images that were really nice...  https://www.facebook.com/jeremy.stoltzfus.7

Ah, gotcha. We didn't go that far south and we were in the wife's CR-V, which is lowered and not very compatible with anything beyond smooth dirt. Next time I head there, I'll probably take the X so we can go to places less traveled.
