No more gas available in Julian
« on: March 03, 2009, 11:01:59 PM »
I saw on the news last night that the only gas station in Julian is going to be shutting down. The federal/state required system upgrade costs are too high, so they are going to close the business instead. That means that the nearest gas to Julian is now in Santa Ysabel, and the nearest repair shop is in Ramona. Something to keep in mind if traveling in that part of San Diego County.

By the way, this is the same place that would not let Oz use the restroom facilities, so I guess he won't be sad to see them go down.

It's John's Oz's fault!  :D

Coming back from Oriflamme I came through Julian and passed two very active cops. This is the first time I've passed though the city in a dog's age and didn't know what the speed limit was. I managed to make it all the way through "down town" and another 10-15 miles out of town without seeing a single speed limit sign. Sure looks like a speed trap to me.  ::)

Paul, given your ability to attract and agitate law enforcement, I'm surprised you did not get stopped (or worse).

No kidding. I suppose it's the clean cut look that gets them. Think if I let my hair grow long, stopped working/paying taxes, and started smoking dope I'd be left alone?  :-\

Paul, I had no idea I was setting myself up for trouble by following you thru Julian that day. I could of been taken in as an accomplice. ;D

Paul, we drove through Julian this evening on the way home from Anza Borrego. I noticed two things:

1) A clearly posted 25MPH sign at the entrance to downtown as you're are coming in on SR-78.

2) A distinct lack of law enforcement.

Paul, sweep you vehicle for tracking devices.  It's obvious that someone is keeping an eye on you.
I'd rather be happy than right any day.
