Yes, if you hike The Slot you do walk under that fractured leaning spire of sandstone. You try not to think about earthquakes.

Amazing pictures Frank! Makes me feel like I was there. In fact, I took to whispering when I saw the fractured leaning spire of sandstone. Didn't want an echo to dislodge it. [Yeah, I crack myself up. LOL!]
Mike - I love this picture and the pano. And excellent job on the video.

Chad, I think if you just follow the link that Mike posted, the video is the last of the images in the series. That's how I found it.
If you have any picutes you want to share please post them here.

Oh. Got it!
Hey Mike! I thought you said you got a video of me doing the rock portion coming out of the slot?? Or maybe it was going in??
-
If anyone did get some pics or video from that section of the trail it would be nice to see them. Here's a shot from January of 2010.

I use it to hold firewood and charcoal on the way in and trash on the way out. Works nice!

We started out on Saturday doing "The Grapevine" wish was a nice easy two hour trip down an easy road.

Sunday morning we took the "Mine Wash Trail" and stopped by the Kumeyaay village. Native desert Indians were attracted to the caves in the area. They hunted those jackrabbits and the bighorn sheep in the area until the late 1800's. On the flat rocks in the area the native women spent hours grinding seeds leaving these signs.

The Mine Wash trail was another really easy one and dead ends.

And two big panoramic photos. Not a trace of people around in the valley. Right click and you'll zoom out. Save it to your local drive and you can pan around in it. These have been shrunk by a factor of 4x!

It looks like it was a great trip out there!

Nice shots Paul. Those panoramas from the Goat Trail are great.
By the way, that dinner looked a lot like the rabbit in the earlier picture.

Wow some great shots Paul! It's funny I redid that Goat Trail, Blow Sand Canyon and Buttes Pass pictured above again yesterday. Today I met up with FrankB and Justin for a ride up Fish Creek/Sandstone Canyon. More desert bloom this weekend. Can't wait to get out again soon.
