Title: Xcursion $ cost / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR
Post by: Tremor on July 20, 2010, 02:29:56 PM
seeing how im only 20 and work full time during the summer and and go to school full time when its not summer, my money is a little tight. i was wondering what the average cost of a xcursion is costing everyone (gas, food, cigs, misc.,) i would reealy like to go on one near by me soon after i get the new ARB bumper that i've been saveing up for in a cupple weeks.

ALSO, if anyone wants to go to the Orange County Fair this month or next, i am a manger/barback there and can get you and your family in for a discounted price, i think like 3 bux. (maby even free depending on a situation). and once your in i can get you free drinks and food. just trying to help out some fellow Xterra fans  ;D

Depends where you are going right? Further away more gas, longer time, more food.

You can always do stuff on the cheap. Sleep in the truck, pack your food. Stay at a cheap campsite.

I recently went to Big Bear and it cost about 100 bucks for two for two days. Mainly just food and gas.

The biggest expense is that $0.21 a mile I'm paying in gas!

We bring our own food, cook over charcoal/propane, and dry camp (no toilets/no camping fee) most of the time. If you subtract the cost of fuel I end up saving money - no electrical power/AC for the house. Figure I have to eat at home or camping so it's a wash. Where you end up losing money is buying the skid plates, bumpers, tires ....

 ;D

or the new coils, shocks and tires that you have to get after a mild day offroading lol

Ha ha!  That was good.  Like Paul said, it depends on how far it is, if it's a very isolated place like the desert, you want to bring two (2) 5gal. jerry cans of gas (@$3 a gal) plus the gas to get there (it starts adding up), a good variety of food including granola bars and other dry snacks, lots of bottled water per person plus soda or juice, spare parts, tent, sleeping bag, etc.  The main expense is the gas to get there and back, and food.

Also, I'll take you up on the offer to get into the Orange County fair.  When can you do it?

Yes we did.  Not only did Tremor get us in, he also got us free food when we got there and arranged for us to get free food later that evening.  My wife and I estimate that he saved us about $100 Friday night.  Thanks again for hooking us up.  Tell TK thanks also.
