Somebody asked about a December run, so I though I would see what sort of interest there was.  Here are some options:
- We can have an X-Mas Party at some location to be determined. Mitch was nice enough to host last year, but some people thought that we needed a more central location.  So, perhaps someone can suggest a suitable location? Would anyone like to organize?
- I can lead another Anza Borrego trip, on either Saturday 12/12 or Saturday 12/19. Alternately I could also do those on either Sunday too.  If I lead, it will be an easy trail such as:
-- Blair Valley, with the 3 hikes (to the Marshal South homesite, the morteros and the pictographs). This is located off of County Road S2. The drive is an easy 11 miles, may not even need 4WD, certainly stock friendly. We spend more time out of the trucks than in them on this drive.
-- The sandy washes up by Arroyo Salado (off of County Road S22), including stops at the Pumpkin Patch, 17 Palms Oasis, Vista de Malpais and winding up at Font's Point at sunset. This is also a stock friendly route, pretty much just flat sandy washes and some fun exploring with great views.
-- The Buttes Pass area, which has some cool wind caves, Hawk Canyon, and maybe a hike in The Slot. This is just north of Hwy 78 west of Ocotillo Wells. Stock friendly.
- Someone else can organize and lead a trip to someplace of their choosing. I have not had a chance to speak with Brian yet, I don't know if he has an idea for December. If he does, I can still do an Anza Borrego trip on the other weekend, so we could have a lot of variety.
Post up your comments and what you might be interested in doing.  If you have an idea for someplace to go, suggest that and ask if someone can organize and lead.
Thanks - Frank B.

Yeah desert runs are always good in Dec  ;D
For a northern run:  Calico and/or Mojave Rd have been talked about.
Please post up your area of preference for Dec:

What about a run in the mountains, maybe Big Bear or the Santa Anas? I'm not sure which roads are open around this time though.

Last year we did Rattlesnake Canyon in December and had some really pretty snow ... I'm busy the weekend of the 12th.

In January we did Joshua Tree and the mining area to the north of the park ...

That looks like a baby alligator lizard.  I'm surprised it was out in January.  Thought they hibernated during that time.
A run in the snow like that would be great.  Too bad we don't have any yet.

I'm up for a run.  The 19th would work better for me.  All of those places sound good to me, but I might prefer Joshua Tree since I haven't been there in a while.

			-
I can make a run on the weekend of the 19th, but will be out of town Dec 12th.  I'm sorry I couldn't make the Anza Borrego run last weekend- Sandsone Canyon is always a fun time.

			-
Calico would be fun, that was my first run although somewhat technical. Locker use, 1st gear alot of the time. Perhaps we could have two runs one less technical, or a playground and sight seeing at Calico Ghost Town for kids and photos.

I just came back from Big Bear this Sunday fresh power!!! it was awesome.  I won't mine going back up there again or testing the new rear suspension out at cleghorn.

That's me and my oldest kid on the Sled picture and my silver X on the others!!!!  Someone has good taste in pictures.  I enjoyed Rattlesnake Cyn./Big Bear last year.  I just hope I don't spin out this time!  Ha ha ha! :o

I think I'm good for the 19th, would like to see the pumpkin patch.

I think I'm good for the 19th, would like to see the pumpkin patch.
I've been holding off a bit on setting up an Anza Borrego run for the 19th in case Brian is able to lead something different, especially for those who are looking for something maybe a bit more challenging.  I know he has a few ideas in mind.
I'll almost certainly be heading out to Anza Borrego on the 19th no matter what, so as we get closer I'll post something up.
If anyone is interested in heading out to Anza Borrego on Sunday the 13th let me know, I thinking of that as well, depending on the weather.

I'll post up something for Saturday the 19th in a day or so. Most likely it will be the northern part of Anza Borrego, the sandy washes up by 17 Palms Oasis, the Pumpkin Patch, then depending on group size and weather conditions, either ending up near Font's Point or Butte's Pass, close to sunset.  It will be an easy run, but 4WD required due to very soft sand in several places.
If someone else would prefer to organize (and lead) a run on Saturday to someplace else now would be a good time to say something.
FYI - I spoke with Brian, he is busy on Saturday, but may post up something for Sunday.

I plan on being there for the 19th.
