Title: Otay Mtn 2.0
Post by: Celt on October 26, 2017, 07:46:20 PM
My brother in law is going to be in town and wanted to do some off roading on Sunday 10/29. The desert is too freaking hot so I thought to myself, "self" maybe Otay Mtn? I have never been out there so if anyone is interested post up. I know it's last minute but it's a good opportunity for people to cancel those silly plans like Aunt Edna's 5th wedding or that annoying cousin that's having a Bar Mitzvah at the local senior center.

Make sure it's open. It's been dry and hot. They might lock it up.

Big thanks to Jayrat for leading! Some fantastic views from up there and even got buzzed by the Border Patrol helicopter (I personally think they were having a bit of fun with us) when it came up a steep slope out of our view and banked over about 30' above us.

Good to know it is open and that you didn't get turned away and you had a good time.

I've heard that CBP flies over a lot with offroaders on Otay.  I took a small group to Valley of the Moon on Saturday and had CBP waiting for us at the bottom of the trail.  No issues, just routine.

On a side note, I had never done the trail we went on before, and it was awesome.  I would love to throw a day trip together for everyone to share the experience sometime soon.
