Title: Chip Keys Needed?
Post by: JeffBett on March 23, 2017, 03:15:32 PM
I am curious how many in the SD area have a need to have more chipped keys made for their rigs.  Mine only came with one and I want a couple more.  I still fear dropping my key in a lake/river/off a cliff and I end up 100 miles from anywhere with no key.  I know of 4 various keys needed now.  I know of a mobile locksmith that can do these keys much cheaper than the stealership and was thinking about seeing if he could come to one of the meetups to make several keys and perhaps get a greater reduced rate yet due to the volume at one stop.

Thats exactly where I need to get to.  I have a hidden, non chipped, key so I can at least get in the truck if needed but I want another chipped to be able to drive away as well.  When I am off roading, etc, I tend to leave the keys in the ignition so I know where they are and they can't be dropped in the middle of a vast sandy/rocky landscape without my knowledge.

It cost me something like $90 at OSH to purchase and program a chipped key last year.
