So my dog shooting scumbag neighbor finally - after nine months of delay - blinked and admitted he was guilty. ::)
Felony conviction (his second btw)
90 days of jail to be served on weekends - he'll be laboring Saturday and Sundays on the road crews
36 months of parole
Prohibited person - can not own firearms/ammo, lost the right to vote
No contact direct or indirect with the subject dog
Penalties and restitution of about $2500
- he likely spent $5000 on his attorney before running out of money and ending up with a public defender who told him to stop wasting his money and plead.
Noon and I were ready to go to testify tomorrow in Riverside County Court but the guy finally copped a plea today. I think this is best. I was worried that if he went to jail/prison that I'd always be having to look over my shoulder for the clown looking to "get even". Even though this was a "victimless crime" (dogs are property in CA) it serves the guy right. I'm still in condition "yellow" for the next few years ... always double checking the door locks and watching out.

Serves him right.
Perhaps, if you don't have one installed yet, a security camera "just in case."

Four of them with a DVR storing a months worth of video. :)
The DVR is hidden away so it would be impossible to stumble across.

Why doesn't that surprise me?
Glad to hear he got what he deserved. Actually, he probably deserved a much harsher sentence.

To bad it's not his third strike.

That's good to hear. Good idea to be in condition yellow as you said.

Twenty AA meetings to attend too. Dude was .18 drunk at 12:00 when he got booked into county. The cop said that .4 was normally fatal ... half dead drunk at 10:30 AM on a Saturday morning.

Too funny - the dog is now up for adoption.
The man who shot Sticks with the paintball gun pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges, according to court documents. He is expected to pay more than $2,000 dollars for Sticks' medical expenses, Fries said.

Paul good on you for doing the right thing. You know how I make my bones. But doing the right things can be a career ender at times. I do the right thing despite the repercussions. Would love for someone like that to shoot a paint ball at my dog. After we pyre his jaws off of the guys throat, he might get the point.
