Title: Websites for deals
Post by: Bobby B. on July 31, 2009, 02:44:51 PM
In these trying economic times -- and who isn't sick of hearing that phrase -- who doesn't appreciate saving a few bucks?

There are many websites out there for various deals, sites like woot, slickdealz, etc.  For those who like tools, here's a blog that often has specials on things like wrenches, power tools and the like.

http://toolguyd.com/

This guy has regular postings on savings, particularly for Craftsman stuff at Sears.  A recent deal I just took advantage of was for a set of gearwrench ratcheting "S" wrenches available through Amazon or Northern tool.  For just under $11, I got two wrenches covering 4 sizes.  I ordered directly through Northern Tool with a free shipping discount code from this guy's site and got both metric and SAE sets delivered for only $21.98.  Not too bad considering these wrenches normally go for $25 apiece or so.  I've been very pleased with my other ratcheting Gearwrench sets and use them regularly both in the garage and on the trail.

So there are deals out there to be had.  Figured we should pass some of them around.

On a separate note, I found this guy via a site called garagejournal.com.  Pretty good info there for DIY types.

Sorry to drop in here before I jump on the welcome wagon but:

http://dealmein.net/   -   Updated every weekday with many awesome things, however it seems to lean towards electronics and what not.

http://www.newegg.com/   -   Many a computer part and awesome daily deals.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/   -   Again, computer/electronic.

http://www.rebateroulette.com/index.php   -   A website catalog of tons of different rebates and reviews therein.

http://www.meritline.com/   -   DEEPLY discounted randomosities.

If anyone wants any more, I'm sure I could rack my head for some.

Saw that.  Good wrenches.  Great price.

Friend emailed over this link.  Haven't gone through it so much, but it might be worth looking at.

I'm glad I noticed this thread today, that is a great price on the metric wrenches. I've been wanting to get a set of those for a while but had been holding off because of the price.

Love the deals at newegg. It's where I get most of my computer parts.

Not necessarily a Web deal (though you could get it there, I suppose)...

Went into Sears today and they had the stubby ratcheting Gearwrench sets on sale for about half off ($39 or so instead of around $69).  Also, if you need 1/4 drive sockets, they have a deal where you get both metric and SAE 6-point 9=piece sets for the price of one; both bundled together for $29.99 as opposed to each being $29.99.

If you can find any left, Sears also was blowing out Gearwrench ratcheting socket drivers (SAE and metric) for around $7 per set.

Good additions to the tool box for the price.

I could use some good "S" wrenches.
