Title: Proposed EPA restrictions for "race vehicles"
Post by: Celt on February 14, 2016, 11:46:22 AM
I opened my email and got this info from Summit Racing. In a nutshell, the EPA is attempting to prevent anyone from taking a passenger vehicle and turning it into a "racecar." It will also prevent companies from selling their products to anyone other than someone who has EPA approval on a vehicle that was built specifically for racing and will not have a Vin number and could never be driven legally on roadways. So, you say to yourself, Self how does this impact me? Here is the rub.... Who determines what a race car is? The EPA does. Many of our aftermarket parts for our off road builds are considered racing parts, even though none of us are using our vehicles for racing. That would make obtaining many of these parts illegal and subject to fines etc. It's pretty clear what is going on here and what the big picture is with all of this. They already have enough signatures to try and block this but that's not enough in my opinion. What I'm suggesting you guys do is please look at signing this petition and get involved. Call your political representatives and voice your opinions on this, write letters (Terry, Celt, Duffman) or email (Jordan) them expressing your views.

IMO this will go over about as well as the prohibition if enacted, in fact that's when stock car racing started :)

I agree, people are flipping their lids over this but I still hope they get a LOT of pushback on it.
