I've been running the FT-60 for about 6 years now. Solid little radio, the only thing that sucks is the NiCad battery vs. Lithium available on other radios in the same price point, but it's a VERY capable radio. I like that it can handle a split PL/DPL, because we use that on some of our closed repeater systems for the media groups I'm a member of. It can also receive 800mhz analog, which my local Police Department uses, so it was kind of a no-brainer choice for me.

The only thing I'll say is this - don't buy a used one for $150 (even if it's "like new" or "almost new"). They're only $149.99 at Ham Radio Outlet everyday, and you'll get the manufacturer's warranty:

well it is CL, asking price is almost always negotiable and normally set high, but yes i forgot to post that the asking price is that of a new unit.  Use that in your negotiations of price :D

also the 60 comes with a NiMH battery, much better than a NiCad battery but still not a Lithium.

Vertex (Yaesu's LMR division) offers a Lithiium battery that works on the FT-60

i never thought of looking at vertex standard for updated batteries, looks like they even make Li-On batteries that will fit the older Yaesu VX-170 i have.
