Title: Death Valley National Park, November 2015

As you all know, several SCCX members met up with several Nor Cal members from The New X for a week-long excursion through Death Valley National Park from 11/6/15 through 11/11/15. I took over 1500 photos  :o so it'll take me a bit to go through them, but I wanted to start a thread to post 'em up because I know folks are itching to see what everyone took!

This was the final day I spent in the park before myself and half of the group peeled off and came home on Tuesday. Taken in front of the Eureka Dunes in the north end of the park. Many, many more photos to follow.  ;D

After breakfast (and an AMAZING breakfast at that, thanks to everyone who cooked!), 4 rigs peeled off from the group to head back up Steel Pass and back to the hot springs for a final night of camping. The remiander of the group decided to head out of the park on the north end into Big Pine and cut the trip short by a day. Sage Bromax came with the departing group but took Saline Valley Road back south to the hot springs to meet the "canyon group" back at camp:

We hit some very light snow flurries on our way up into Big Pine, but no snow on the ground. We stopped for lunch in Lone Pine at a great restaurant and everyone went along their way home. :)

As a former F-15 crew chief, it's awesome to see that shot. It must be an ANG jet. I miss them because Edwards no longer has any and I was moved to another jet about 5 years ago. F-15 is still the best.

All the other shots are incredible too. I'm slowly getting the truck equipped so I can make it on trips like this.

Day One:
Travel from Oceanside to Panamint Springs Resort was marked by miles on Highways 15 and 395, some geocaching (30-ish), and a final wash of the dust at our destinations hospitable bar area.

Staying at PSR was nice, we were a bit concerned after reading some of the online reviews, but feel strongly that they were written by members of the �glamping� group.  It was clean, wind free, and the food was EXCELLENT.

Day Two:

Dawned early (it always does in the desert...), and we all enjoyed another excellent meal for breakfast in the dining room.  Buffet grub for $10.80???  Oh yes please!!

After breakfast some of the group congregated in the "War Room" to pore over maps and discuss preparations...

With everyone fed, we topped of a final splash of gas...desert prices iwere in full effect�

Gathering the group in the resort parking lot, our trail leader Danny X covered some of the basics.  Then he graciously signed autographed t-shirts for some of his biggest fans�

The quick trip to Saline Valley Road was paved, and we turned right just off of Hwy 190 and lined up for the air down�

We stopped at the top of a view point and conducted a quick radio check and bladder evacuation exercise�

Next stop was a really cool spot that Dave/GeoExplorer had marked on his GPS�the crash site of an A6 jet.

We all hiked up the steep slope to check out some of the aircraft parts strewn across the hillside�
