What's up everyone?
I am new to the Xterra family, and loving every minute of it so far.
I have a stock 2012 Xterra 4x4 (S I believe...no idea how to tell) in super black. Bought in February, it's been to Arizona, Montana, and the Sierras this year. Looking forward to some more fun and getting some upgrades!
I'm in Canyon Lake. Been browsing the forum for a few weeks and figured it's time to jump in!
First things I want to do:
-Tires (and maybe wheels if the stock ones aren't sufficient)
-DepHep roof rack
-Suspension
Don't do a lot of crazy off roading, but fun to hit some trails now and again. Mainly used for camping and fishing.

Welcome from San Diego x2 on the camping and fishing with the occasional pucker inducing crawl >:D
-
Welcome from the High Desert.
Your stock wheels should be fine, your new tires will make a world of difference. Search for one of the numerous tire discussions already on the site.

Welcome from the OC.
Be careful with the mod bug. I started just like you, little lift, offroad tires, the occassional trail ride, and now I have a beast and crave rocks and mud. >:D
It's all in good fun, there are all ranges of vehicles in this group, so don't worry about getting too crazy.

Welcome to the family.
On your tires, 285s are as big as you'll want to go with out body mods.
These trucks do pretty well stock, as I'm sure you learned already.
So if you got more time... and patience, than $$$, keep an eye out for used suspension parts. Folks are ALWAYS upgrading.
See ya on the trail.

Thanks everyone!
I am definitely not made of money. BUT, have a 2001 Ranger sitting in my driveway I need to sell, that will give me some funds for a few things.
Mainly concerned with tires, then will go from there.
My wife and I will be moving north in the coming year or two, either to Montana or Washington. So with that in mind, i'll try and mod the Xterra to excel in those conditions as well.

Welcome from LA! Congrats on the new X. I've beaten mine to hell and his tail keeps wagging, Nissan made a great machine.
285s are as big as you can get - 32" wheels - on the stock set up. I run Cooper ATs which are about $800 a set and run 10 ply side walls, most others at 10 ply are 200 - 300 more.
Like duffman said keep an eye on the For Sale forums, folks are always upgrading and selling old stuff. I've gotten my PML, sliders and basic armor all second hand from SCCX members for less than they would have cost new, and we all keep an eye on thenewx's Marketplacehttp://www.thenewx.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=46 (http://www.thenewx.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=46).
Hope to see you on the trail!

Welcome from Riverside/Moreno Valley! That's already the impressive list of destinations covered so far. You'll love the Dephep rack when you get it; it's sits at a low profile on top and has tons of room to strap things to.

Welcome from right down the road in Murrieta! Nice to see another very local owner, hope to bump into you soon! Hit me up if you ever need some help with a project. :)

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
I think after reading LOTS of threads and reviews, I've settled on the Duratracs in 285x75x16. They look amazing on the Xterras, and will crossover well when we move into colder climate with some snowy fun.

Joe, I appreciate that very much! Need to get my Ranger sold, get some new shoes, and hit the trails! I know there is some fun stuff around here, I just haven't gone for it yet.

Welcome from Running Springs located in the mountains between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear - where some of our favorite playgrounds are!

Welcome from world famous La Puente. Pronounced La Pew-enay! I can see the mighty X being addictive. After all I'm on my 3rd one. Lol. Just have fun and don't be afraid to jump right in. This remarkable group of peeps are so amazing. Trust me I've met like 3 of them and so far Woodstock, Steven Segal and P&P are a swell group. Ull love em. Just be careful of one thing. When Toro is in that rampage working mode. Please don't stand to close. He has this proximity thing. We we won't go into details. No really Toto is awesome. His favorite movie is The Wiz! Anything u need just call me. Take care!

Welcome from San Clemente!!!

Thanks everyone!
I agree that everyone has been awesome so far, very helpful, and patient with a newbie. I'm sure everyone has been there.
It's overwhelming how much you can do to these things, and it's difficult to not want to max out every credit right away! Haha
Gonna take it slow, and learn what I want out of my truck more than what I want to do to it. Let how I use it, dictate the mods, although I know that's gonna be tough already!
Hopefully I'll meet a bunch of people on the 12th at the mod day
