Mr. Duffman has, once again, graciously offered up his place of residence for those who wish to work on their rigs, offer a helping hand or simply hang out. The mod day is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, 7/25/15. Shall we say... 9:00 am start time? (Duffman - please chime in if that's too early and you'd rather start later).
Thus far, we have the following people attending:
Jayrat - install complete PRG Advanced Coilover kit
JFanaselle - install complete PRG Advanced Coilover kit, minus the AAL, plus hood rod mod and Vigg's hood blackout
CAWoody - showing up to lend a hand and hang out?
Alex - chopping off banged up exhaust
PainRoller - brake upgrade
Sage Bromax - a few small projects, nothing major. Bringing several jacks, jack stands and air tools
knightrider - coming by to lend a hand
sdcaKLR- coming by to lend a hand?
I will also bring cookies, as usual.
So come on out to support a good cause everyone - bring your rig and your project, lend a hand to turn a wrench, or lend your knowledge of Xterra suspensions to a few newbies who haven't done this kind of work yet. ;D Post a reply below if you plan on coming out, and please include what you will be working on with your rig for the day (if applicable). If you need directions to RBDuffer's house, please send him a PM.

This Saturday & Sunday works for me
-
Thanks Joe for handling the 'new post' for me here. Yes, come one, come all, we are shooting for this Saturday, but if all the smart guys can ONLY help on Sunday we might have to reconsider ::) A great way to meet the guys and still get dirty... at least greasy ;)
-
Either day works for me. I acquired an angle grinder, so time to chop this bent exhaust off! :) That should take all of a few minutes, so I'll be free to help out.
-
sawzall normally works much better on exhaust than angle grinder.
-
Anywhere I can get some spacers by this weekend to level my new X? I hate haveing the stinkbug look

Your only hope would be to find a local member who has some for sale. I don't think you could get any shipped from PRG or Nisstec or anywhere else in time, but I could be wrong. Not to mention, if you're only looking to level out the front end, you need a very short spacer. I will be pulling some off at the mod day and replacing them with the Radflos, but they're much taller and lift the front end about 2", which will give you the even less desirable "bro-dozer" look.
Experts - feel free to jump in and correct me here, but you'll need a spacer that's about 1/2" to 3/4" tall in order to bring the front end up to match the rear (remember that because of the geometry of the suspension, it gives you about 1.5x the height of the spacer of lift, so a .5" spacer would lift you about .75" in the front).
-
EBay has some and can get to me by the mod days, but Idk how trust worthy they'd be till titan swap time
-
I'm ok with it being a little high up front. my 1st gen is about a half inch to inch higher. 2 might be pushing it tho haha
-
Saturday or Sunday works for us (both Mike and Barb will be attending).
Plan on upgrading brakes and rotors on our Mule and helping out as needed.
Does someone have a floor jack I can borrow? Bringing the jack stands.
Looking forward to finally putting faces to the names. ;D
Is this potluck style or do we order out?
-
I will be happy to lend a hand. I have a few items on my to-do list, but nothing major.
-
Oh, forgot to add that I am only available Saturday.
-
I would join you guys but I already promised my other buddy I'd help put a clutch in his Mustang:( Trucks are so much better to work on.....
-
Anywhere I can get some spacers by this weekend to level my new X? I hate haveing the stinkbug look
I have some spacers taking up space in my truck....I can't get them on my rig.
I'll post pix this afternoon.
-

Well, if you're so smart, c'mon out and show us. Always love to have you, even without cupcakes ;)
Sounds like the making of another epic event. Saturday 9am it is.
Barb, pot luck works best out here in the sticks. We usualy have cookies, chips, beer and soda suppliers, so feel free to bring anything to share. Thank you.
On that note, Nilda will not be cooking, she broke her foot last week and I'm bolting her to a chair. I will through on some pizzas if desired.
Steve C and Christiaan, you are still welcome, but no Shanghais this time ;D

Spacers you wanna sell?
Also where is this place?
-
I bought these for $100 2 years ago. They've sat in my truck since.
Seeking what I paid, $100.

😕 those are probably too large for just a leveling. Anyone got shackles maybe also to go along? Lol
-
I will probably be attending, I can bring a jack and a sawzall :)

Those look like 3" lift spacers so yes they would be a little big if all you wanted to do was level the truck.

chef jay to the rescue!!! hope Nilda heals up well.

Thank guys for stepping up, You're a huge help.
Also, for the guys removing suspension parts; start lubing your nuts (he he) with penetrating (grow up!) oil TODAY (PB Blaster or Kroil). It Will save a lot of time and effort on the shock mounts, UCAs, shackles and U-bolts.
PM me if you need the address, or just ask anyone with a nicely modded X ;D
-
Sounds like it's going to be a good time. Wish I could join you all, but I'll be moving into the new house this weekend.

If anyone is interested in checking the SWR of your CB or 2m/440 ham radios, I will bring my meters.
-
Sorry Jay...had to fix that pink...couldn't read it!
;) ;) ;)

Excellent advice Duffman!

Will Mr. Yota be gracing us with his presence? I have a griddle with his name all over it. :)

Jordan if you could bring that sawzall, that would be great.
I don't remember who brought the buffalo wings last time, but I can offer to bring a couple boxes of them for lunch Saturday.
-
The Tour de France is wrapping up this weekend.
Will it be up on the jumbo tron?
-

have no clue why it went pink ???

Need an extra hand? No projects to do, except pick your collective brain on getting a lift done....

I think this is a "come one, come all" and "more hands, the merrier" kind of shindig. So yeah, you should be there.... my .02 :)
-
Hey Hennie, PainRoller has got the right idea, it would be great to see you again, been too long :'(
Rik, sorry you can't make it, but a huge congrats on your new home, way cool 8)
Toro, no live feed here, just old tapes of Baywatch on a 2 hour loop ::)
An extra set of Jack Stands is always handy. I've got air if anyone wants to bring pnumatic air tools.
I think we're good to go!
-
I will throw in my air tools then, along with other assorted weird tools, floor jacks, bottle jacks, and jackstands.
I also have a set of ramps if someone needs to use them.
-
First post has been updated with attendees and possible attendees. Speak up if I forgot to list you or if I mis-stated your attendence or anticipated mods.
With any luck, I'll have a hood rod mod and vigg's hood blackout to install, too. Just need brown santa to show up before the weekend. :)
-
have no clue why it went pink ???
I blame Randy...for everything. :D :D :D
-
Does anyone that is coming on Saturday have a pair of 6 Ton jack stands I can use???
-
i have 4 jackstands and one jack that i can bring for you jay
and sawzall for alex
-
We will be there...around 10:30-11am...I can bring my jack stands (6 ton) and jack as well. Torque wrench too!
-
You guys rock,
I have a Jack and 2- 3 ton jack stand,, just wanted to feel a little safer lol
-
Is it possible to hook up an external sub and amp to the factory stereo? If so can anyone help and give me a parts list of what to bring? (Gen 2)
-
If anyone is interested in checking the SWR of your CB or 2m/440 ham radios, I will bring my meters.
YES Please!! Just installed the CB Antenna today. SWR seems high..... ???
-
You guys rock,

You realize that our whole trucks only weigh 3 tons right. Or are you bringing some kind of Canadian metric tonne, Queens english, prime minister Jacks ???
-
the advantage of 6 ton jacks over 3 ton jacks is they are taller and have a larger base for more stability.
-
As I said earlier, I have ramps - heavy steel ones - that I can bring, but only if someone really wants me to. They won't help if you want to take the wheels or axle off, but if you are working on anything else, they are very stable. Let me know, otherwise they stay at home.
-
If so can anyone help and give me a parts list of what to bring? (Gen 2)
Maybe I can help...and please read this post with a serious sense of humor...

2. Butt connectors (don't go there...)

Oh sure, now you're funny, after poo pooing my Canadian joke. Way to go Mr. Jack-quantum-physics-stand hoser ;)
Almost forgot, I don't think we will need the ramps Tony. Please jump in if anyone needs them (they're no help for suspension work).
-
Don't know if anybody wants these or not, but we are bringing a pair of used OEM skids (doubled up). Engine cover and tranny cover. They be free. ;D

By the way Randy, 3 Tons in the Queen's English would be around 428 stone

I'll take those transmission covers off of your hands. :)

I'm just glad that someone spotted Steve! I haven't seen or heard from him since he got skinny. Is he still away on that GQ modeling tour?

X2 Alex...a nice day and thanks AGAIN to Mr. Duffman and his crutched accomplice, Nilda. :)

That was fun. Thanks to everyone. I'll put some pictures in a picture thread.
-
What a spectacular day wrenching at Duffman's house. I want to say thanks to everyone for the fun day, but a HUGE thanks to Tony, Alex, Randy, John, Jordan and everyone else who lent a hand to help with everything on my rig today. I would have been LOST trying to figure everything out on my own, and would have fallen over dead trying to do it all. I promise to pay it forward anywhere and everywhere I can. :)
-
Thank you Randy and Nilda for your hospitality!
We survived our first MOD day with this group! Woo-Hoo! ;D
Special shout out to Jordan and Bromax for the knowledge and advice. And thanks to all the rest of the group for making us feel welcome!

Forgot to mention in my earlier post - thanks again to Mike and Barbara for the skid plate. Great to meet you both, and welcome to the club.
-
Great seeing everyone today!
-
Great meeting up again with all! Thanks Randy for access to your tools and driveway, I think one more mod day and I'll have enough confidence to try working on my own rig...great learning from all you guys on your rigs :)
After seeing Randy's new FJ...anyone want to buy a gently used KLR? I can feel a red FJ in my future :)
Duffman Edit: Hennie, you need to show up more often, or piss someone off ;D
lol, everyone has some super-power...mine is disappearing in the background. You may not have noticed, but I'm really good at that...oh wait, you did notice, seems like I have room for improvement
-
Had a lot of fun today. Great seeing you all and making new friends. Thanks for the great lunch and letting me turn some wrenches! Can't wait for our next event!
-
This is the only time I will say this:
'I'm at a loss for words!' (crowd goes silent in stuned appreciation).
Everyone has already said it better than I ever can. What a GREAT GROUP!!!
You guys are welcome anytime! 8) (the emoticon is for Mike :-* :P ::) :D)
-
Thanks for the great lunch and letting me turn ALL THE wrenches!
I fixed it for you Tony... ;D
