It's a great time.
Did you register as GeoTaco?

It's a great time.
Did you register as GeoTaco?
Yes...does it take a little while for them to get back?
I want to get on the list, but still waiting to hear back so I can update my profile and post in the forum.
-
I registered. Hopefully I can make it all three days.
-
I'm on the list...

Im gonna get in on this too.
-
Me too. GeoTaco, I am going to put you down as my reference.
-
Well this should be fun!
For any that read this later and don't get on the list, sign up for the stand by list because there's a pretty significant "oh I can't make it" factor closer to the event.
-
posted up and hoping to get added (fingers crossed)
-
I signed up... We shall see where I end up on the list!
-
I made it on the list at #102. At the time of this posting, there are 110 on the list. They only opened the list yesterday!
-
I just tried to sign up as well. Fingers crossed that I make the cut! Based on my calculations and the list of everyone trying to sign up, looks like I'm going to come in just a few spots late. :(
-
Motorpig77 got the last spot. Looks like Scott307 is #2 on the standby list and I'm #3. Based on the previously-mentioned "oops, something came up" rate, I'm sure both of us will end up there.
-
I don't think we will have a problem

I'm really happy you guys are coming!
This is going to be a really great time. It will be cool to have so many Nissans!
-
Lucky 77...not a Nissan...not a Taco (according to the DMV)...just lucky.

So Jay, you had to bow out? Too bad. Looks like SCCX will have a good contingent there.

That was me (Joe) who had to bow out. :( Unfortunately, we already had another trip planned this same weekend and I had completely forgotten about it until just a few weeks ago. I'm sure you guys will all have a great time out there and it's nice to see that SCCX will be so well represented. I wish I could be joining you but I'll also be having fun in Virginia City, NV so don't cry for me. :)
-
Oops. Sorry about that. Well, Virginia City is fun too.
-
Yeah... as sorry as I am that I won't be at the Mountain Rendezvous with everyone else, I'm really excited to be going to Virginia City and have been looking forward to it for almost a year. :)
-
So this event is coming up pretty soon. I can't wait.
I'm going to update the first post with everyone who's still planning on making it.

Man this is looking like it'll be one biggest Xcurisons for the year! Too bad I'll have to miss it: I'll be out of the country with family for vacation for three weeks.
Buuuut, at least for my Xterra, a new mod is in the pipeline while I'm gone... ;D

Ooh ooh, do tell! Keep it on topic, but do tell. Please only discuss MRV in this thread, but also tell me what you're doing to your rig. See I'll be thinking about your X over that weekend so it's technically on topic. See?

Maybe post that here Alex...
Alex's Awesome Xterra (http://www.sccxterra.com/smf/index.php/topic,1134.0.html)
...and keep this thread focused on MRV stuff. You only have 4 posts in your build thread, it could use a little love!! :)
-
>:( I just let Dave know I have been preempted by work so I'm out....and I just got the rtt for my trailer.
-
Bummer...I was looking forward to seeing your new trailer.
Sent from Planet Claire using soup cans and string.

Let's keep an eye on this one...

-
Smokey conditions, campfire and dutch oven restrictions, and trail closures for biking and hiking...sorry folks, we are out for this MRV.
-
Bummer you guys can't make it!
-
Hopefully we'll see you guys at the next event!
-
My son and I are still coming. Is there a specific area in the camp that SCCX folks are going to set up? For those of you that are Hams - repeater and simplex frequencies? Any other SCCX coordinated operations?

Last year, I camped in a pretty cool spot. I'm going to try to get that spot again.
I was going to take a screen shot of the area on google maps satalite view, but it's really hard to get an idea of where everything is because there was snow on the ground when those images were taken.
But, I can give you a pretty good idea.
When you enter the camp, you will register at the check in table. The place where I'm going to try to camp is down about 30 yards and to the left.
This pic was taken from the dutch oven cooking area, you can see the camp on the left

Here's an up close shot of area. (just look for the cut down trees, lol)

From the AA thread
Comm Plan:
CB: Ch 38 for calling
FRS: For short range Ch 3 tone 8
HAM: Simplex 146.52 & 146.460
Ham Repeaters:
Option 1
146.385 + PL 146.2 on Keller Peak
Option 2
147.330 + PL 131.8 in Big Bear (Sugarloaf or Sugurlump Mtn.?)
Option 3
147.645 - PL 103.5 in Big Bear Valley
SCCX type hams usually run on 146.535. I'll have that one tuned in on the FTM-400 on the way to camp and on the handy talkie when I get to camp.
I'll probably also monitor 146.520 on the way up.
-
your such a handy talkie steve.

Just finished programming all the various frequencies into the Powerwerx. We should be leaving the Lemon Grove area before noon and be up there by 1500.
-
See you there!
-
I'll be rolling in around 2300 so apologies if I wake you all up tomorrow night.
-
Had a great time at MRV hanging with the few of you who decided to brave the nasty smoke filled mountains. Awesome to meet you too Richard310.
Also, it was crystal clear out the whole weekend, no smoke even visible, 80 during the day, 50 at night. Perfect.
-
Had a great time meeting those who made it and checking out some really cool set-ups. Youngest son and I headed back to San Diego via 2N02, stopping for pictures at the Buick and our signpost. Great conditions. Right before dropping over into the canyon, we heard a call in the Sugarloaf repeater from some guy who was sitting on the Oregon coast watching the surf! That drove home the point to my son about getting his ham ticket. Here are some photos:

Definitely a great time!
