Title: Wanted: Sub-$5k Xterra in Los Angeles/SFV

Hi, I'm new here, hope this is the right forum to post in. Looking for a trouble-free daily-driver 2001-2004 Xterra (automatic) with timing belt/etc. already replaced, in Los Angeles/SFV, for under $5k. 4WD preferred but not essential if the price is right. Anyone know anyone looking to sell? (Most craigslistings are dealers and curbstoners.) 2005-2010 works too, but not likely in my price range. Thanks for any help!

I haven't checked recent prices on 1st Gen X's, but I'm willing to bet it'll be harder to find something decent below $5k. I paid about $8k for my 2002 2WD X back in 2009, and I think I got really lucky with it. I would bump the price range a bit higher, $6k to $9k, and you'll have a better selection.
A decent used 2nd Gen will still be around $13k to $17k as an educated guess.

Sub 5K won't probably be in street legal or mechanically sound shape.

Agree with Alex's post...increase your budget for any decent Xterra purchase.
