Greetings everyone!
I just moved out to SoCal a few months ago and i'm new to Xterra's and new to California. For the last few years I have been stationed overseas and the Air Force finally decided to send me back to the states. So here I am in the Inland Empire assigned to the KC-135's at March ARB. Currently I'm driving an 07 stock Xterra X. It's got just under 75k miles on it and i'm looking to start modding. I'm hoping to meet up with everyone and start exploring the trails.
Also, if anyone knows any good mountain bike trails around here, let me know!
Thanks guys and I hope to see you around!
Cheers

Welcome to SoCal!
'07's are great years...is your rig a 4x4?
Modding is great...but leads to the dreaded EWS. ::)
Lots of mountain biking in Orange and San Diego counties, hit up Lake Hodges North here in San Diego for some fun trails and great scenery.
Hope to see you out on the trail!
John/GhostX

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, my X is 4 wheel drive. Haha that was a huge benefitting factor for me buying it. Even with the stock set up I'm impressed with what I've thrown at it so far. Sedona and a few trails in Prescott, AZ were no problem for me at all.
First up on the modding list is a OME two inch lift: http://nissteclifts.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=58950&category_id=173&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=72 (http://nissteclifts.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=58950&category_id=173&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=72)
Normally I'd go to the base hobby shop, but unfortunately March is too small to have one. Is a lift necessary, or can I do this on jack stands?
Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome from the OC.
That lift kit is definitely a driveway job. There are several of us in the area that are more then willing to help with the swap (tool and/or location) if you need it.

Welcome to the desert, check out Valley of the Moon

Welcome from N. Orange County.
Will you be joining us on our Bradshaw Trail (http://www.sccxterra.com/smf/index.php/topic,2635.0.html) run in late February?
It will be a great opportunity to meet some people.

I would download Strava to your smartphone and use the GPS to locate some local trails. *Most of the trails in the area are probably on their. Just don't become a stravasshole! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJm1y0o7MHc)
Also, you're reasonably close to Sycamore Canyon (https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=sycamore+canyon+riverside) and Hudla Crooks (https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=hulda+crooks+park+mountain+biking).
I would also encourage you to check out www.socaltrailriders.org. All though the site has declined in participation lately, it's still a great resource for socal MTB. Their Facebook group is pretty active if you're into that sort of thing.

Awesome to hear! I may be hitting you up in the near future for the classic beer/help exchange program ;D

That looks like a lot of fun. Ya, count me in as going! I'll post in the link to make it official. Looks like its time to get a CB radio. I'll have to go through the forum and see what brands work the best for people.

It's funny that you say that cause the guys that i ride with from work use strava and i'm always calling them stravassholes. I actually rode Sycamore today, but with a beer and mexican food combo in my stomach, the ride was cut short. I'll have to check out Hudla Crooks, sounds fun. Thanks for the website, i'll definitely have to check it out.
Everybody else, thanks for the greetings, looking forward to hitting the trails and putting faces to names.

Also, it's customary around here to post pics of your truck. It's kind of our thing, you know trucks :D

Lol you don't say...
I'll get some pics up when I get a photo bucket account. Unless there's an easier way of loading them. I'll look into it. Pics are on the way, I promise. Haha

As promised, here are a few pics of my ride and my rig...

Welcome from Murrieta. I'm just right down the road from March and see those 135s flying over my house from time to time. They don't usually loop down this far south, but sometimes they do.
In fact, I was watching a 135 do some touch and go-s a few times while I was waiting to watch a "heavy" come in on Tuesday night. It was supposed to be a 747-400 "Dreamlifter," but when it showed up, it was was a regular 747 using the Dreamlifter's call sign. Oh well, you win some and lose some. :)
Anyway, welcome again and look forward to seeing you out there! :)

Welcome from Fallbrook, and yes, 07s are the best.
After your lift, rock sliders are next. Then it's the moon vs. money.
