Wasn't sure if you guys knew about the SATERN emergency communications net. I check in with them on Thursday evenings at 2030. Seems like a decent organization that provides emergency HAM communications during disasters. Apparantly if there is a disaster in other parts of the country, they assist is getting word out to family and friends about their status and that sort of thing. On the link I attached below it has info for the rest of us that aren't here in San Diego and the surrounding communities.

Pretty interesting Erik, thanks for posting. Checked out some of their photo galleries, the photos of the 7.2 Mexico earthquake are impressive.

It seems like a pretty decent group of volunteers. For guys getting into HAM, it's a great way to be involved with something that you will not only learn but give back to your community or perhaps complete strangers in need.
