All are invited Steve.
If we go west to east, night 1 will be where we normally camp and night 2 will be north of the trail. Somewhere new....not sure yet.
We would end up in Laughlin on night 3.
Heading East to West, night 1 would be in a new location and night 2 would be In the usual spot.
I'll go either way. :)
BTW...2015 is delete proof. ;)

Add me to the list. Thanks!Got ya. Good to see some new and seasoned names.
15 spots spoken for. A standby list has been started.
I am looking at Camp Phallus for night 1 on the trail. It's high desert and should be nice and cool.
Night 2 will be the usual spot.
yes it works out there, last year i used it so my gf would know i was still moving aka not dead.
I'm going to send you APRS messages. Creepy ones.
APRS deterrent add if I ever saw one.
Should we pot luck on night 1 or 2....or both?
We will have to conserve our firewood a bit to make two nights.
So no drinking the first night, OK?....OK?....
Next thing you'll tell me is I have to pack out my poop...

Let's do this!
Speakin of firewood, I happen to know where there is a good full acre of manaznita just waiting to be cut down for said trip. It would be nice and cured by the time of this trip. I could use a hand or two though in cuttin that stuff up and keeping the saws sharp. They play havoc on a chainsaw. The best part of this is you wouldn't have to haul out your poop!
PM sent, maybe we can get GhostX along for the fun?
Sent you a text!

Where's this at?
I do believe the wood issue has been solved for this event...... XTerry and Motorpig cut up plenty while I sat back sipping a frosty beverage.
Wish I could make this one, we are still waiting to hear where we are going to be stationed next. Eligible since August, so any day now something will drop down the pipe for us.

Nick do you have preferences where you are going to be?
Hoping for Colorado, that would be very nice. We'll see what big blue has in store for me.
I'd like to be fresh for the drive in the morning.

Inmates running the asylum
These dates are in the middle of the week right?
Well I was actually coming on here because I'm looking into going through steele pass to the eureka dunes either the last weekend of mark, or the first weekend of April, ie wife's spring break. The main reason is to go out and see some wildflowers and enjoy the outdoors.
This is Chris/Aperion...who "actually" maintains/understands/fixes the website...when he's not busy with life/etc.
Needs more Karma IMO
+1 to him
negatory, 17-19 is friday - sundayDerp!

Derp! I must have been looking at 2014 :)
I don't do much really, hosting is done through bluehost and once the site was initially setup I've been pretty hands off, but hopefully responsive to needs when they arise!
Nice pics Steve...snow on the ground means cold temps. for sure.
We will visit the mailbox in April...and fix the sticker then Christiaan. ;)
Thanks for all you "don't" do Chris. :)
looks like theres another sticker under the tundra sticker... im in for peeling the other stickers and peeing on them then posting pictures of said peeing on their forum :) (bullet holes could also be installed instead of said urine.)
It's a FrontRunner sticker.
We like them until we see the price of the rack they're working on for us :D
Hey I have been MIA for the last couple months been busy with work and family. Unfortunattly i wont be able to get work off after all, so jamie and I will not be able to make it.
Hopefully we can make it next year!
Richard310 and Roadinspectress,
Us Vegas Xterras are running the Mojave Road 1/17/2015-1/18/2015. I had two cancellations, so I have two spots open on the permit. If either/both of you would like to join you are welcome, just shoot me a PM and I'll get you the info.
That's a real bummer Nick.
Looks like Richard310 is "IN". :)

Great, it's penciled into the books!
Can you put Shi, Taylor and I down for this trip? Not sure if it will be my X, but we plan on attending.
Can we get put on the stand-by list?
Time to start planning this trip. We are 6 months out and want to put this together.
I want to make this a 3 day trip at a more relaxed pace. We will be running East to West beginning at the Avi Casino.
Head to Laughlin on ...
We will reprise a Bradshaw Pasta and Sauce for Saturday night.

That thing (as well as Clint's Nuclear Bunson Burner) was epic for cooking Steve.
That burner (as well as me and the family) will be there for sure!!!
Regarding contributions for the *themed* meals, would it be better for me to choose or be told what to bring?
ok sorry for the late post but i am getting the rooms at harrahs setup, the rate offered was $25 for the North Tower Classic Double Queen Room.
this rate is for single/double occupancy and not including 12% clark county room tax and $7.50 Resort Fee, more than 2 people is $10 extra a person with a max of 4 people per room(if you choose to tell them you have more than 2 is up to you). total with tax and fee is around $36.
looking at the website, the same room is available for $26.99 a night so the savings here is very minimal. due to the minimal savings im going to just skip the group rate and tell everyone to just book your hotel through the website as normal. the total for the same room without the group rate is $38.63, other rooms are available and are priced from $22.49 for a single king.
this will allow everyone flexibility to book the room that best meets your needs(loners want a single king, families probably want double queen) also if anyone wants to share rooms, the prices are for double occupancy.
correct 4/16/2015, just be glad that we are not going the following week, cheapest price for a room is $300
OP updated.
We lost Jordan :(
I'll have a 6-pack for Alex
Is anyone interested in fajita onions and peppers for the (and jalape

Jayrat just got in on Desert Rendezvous, so maybe his luck will hold for Mojave Road, too.
Anyways, "research" was performed today.

I know I know! Ideally I'd get one of those stick things, but it gets complicated with the various adapters and reducers to accommodate the different size fittings. I just haven't given it the thought process it deserves. Maybe I'll do a schematic or something.
Steve...I'm selling my REI camp kitchen...you interested?

It weighs 38# lol. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime!
If it doesn't find a home before Mojave Road bring it and I'll buy it :D

Nick... you guys are in.
Yay! Looking forward to the trip!! Most likely gonna be our last wheeling trip before the X gets shipped to HI.
I'm getting stoked!
Hey Jorden, I'll take one air filter if you can bring it to Mohave please.
Hey Jordan - I'll take the other one. I'll give you the money at the next food truck event (which, now that I look at the calendar, probably won't be until May since the 3rd Thursday in April is the 16th and that's when most of us leave for the Mojave trip). I can PayPal it to you if you want it faster, just let me know.
Steve - can you bring it to Mojave as well? Or if you swing by Randy's house on Saturday, let me know and I'll meet up with you. If you do swing by his place and plan to take the 15 to the 91 to get home, I can meet you somewhere in Temecula or Murrieta right off of the 15.
How's about randy gives joe $10 at Mojave and joe just give me $20 next time I see you at the food trucks, i'll give the filters to steve and he can work out if he wants to give them to you before or after mojave, air filter is a 2 min job with no tools.

Sorry to say that I will not be able to attend one of the events of the decade. A conflict has developed that doesn't allow to attend. Have one or two for me. ;)

Just got word that I have to go to Miami 14-18 April for training at Boeing. :/Sounds like you'll be having a different kind of fun. I took you off the standby list.
Hope you all have a good run!
Toro, please remove me from the stand by list. I haven't put in for the time off yet and if I got in on the trip now, I wouldn't be able to guarantee that I can get the time off. I will be sure to keep my eyes peeled for next year's Mojave run though.Got it, Thanks!

Put me down for wood alsoHeh heh heh, he said wood.
Are we still doing a food truck meetup on the 16th? I booked a room in Laughlin for that night, so I won't be attending. I picked up a couple of bundles of firewood locally to contribute.
D'oh! Good point, I will also be in Laughlin on the 16th. Sorry CRS moment.Just get the food trucks to meet us in the AVI parking lot ???
Sorry fellas but I'm going to have to bow out of this one :(Next time then. Thanks Rich.
Toro, looks like Shi and I are out. Getting down to the wire and we've got major prep work to do for this move.

Woo! 1 week away! ;D
John has a couple Hand held Hams...If he can keep them out of the sand :D
Will the GeoTaco have a CB radio in time for this run?
This would fall under that category of "Do as I say, not as I do" LOL!
ETA: and HAM too! Will the GeoTaco have HAM?
I am scrambling...but yes, that is the PLAN. Bought a mag mount CB antenna and may just go HT for my porky comms.
BTW Steve...we used the Camp Chef stove and griddle in Anza Borrego the last couple of days, and it was impressive. Cooking food was a snap, and boiling water for coffee was super quick. Very happy camp cheffer here. ;D
Permit update.
Permit update.
As of today, Thursday the 9th, we have not been issued a permit yet. I have attempted to communicate several times and final heard from the preserve.
"I have received your application, but have not reviewed it yet. I am trying to get caught up with a large backlog of permit applications, compliance reviews, and other workload. I will be in touch once I have had a chance to look your application over. Thanks."
They received it over 2 months ago and I am hopeful we will get this squared away this week. The sure cashed the hell out of the check I sent them though.
I will, of course, keep everyone updated.
I have a UV5R HT (thanks Toro) and a mag mount with the appropriate adapter if you'd like to borrow it. *probably not needed, but you're more than welcome to the set up.
And yes, the camp chef life really turns up the heat on outdoor cheffing.
Worst case scenario on the permits, we break up into two different groups and run the trail in close proximity to each other... Technically, we would just need to make sure we have less than 7 vehicles and 15 people per group. I would hate to see this run her disrupted because of someone's inefficiency in the permit office!
I just received the initial draft of the permit. We will be okay.
Signed everything and sent it right back on USPS's fastest snail.
The permit will be signed by the superintendent then emailed back to me. We are on que to at least have a digital copy of the permit by mid week.

Do any of you guys that have been on this run before have a list of 2M HAM repeaters that work well so I get them pre-plotted?
Here are the repeaters I use when I'm in that part of the Mojave:
Between US-95 and the Colorado River: N7SKO Christmas Tree Pass/Laughlin 145.27(-) PL 131.8 - linked to Kingman 146.76(-) PL 131.8
Central part of the Mojave National Preserve: WA7HXO Mt. Potosi 146.88(-) PL 100.0 - linked to the Intermountain Intertie System
Western part of the Mojave National Preserve: WA6TST Rodman Peak 147.885(+) PL 151.4 - linked to Barstow 147.180(+) PL 151.4
Erik...believe it or not, ham repeater coverage inside the preserve is very sparse.
I thought they were invincible? I thought you could talk to Mars? Now they don't work on TMR???? :o ??? ::) :o ??? :o ::) ???
Just found this in that link:
I was thinking about noon-ish myself from the Temecula area. Going to take the I-10 and go up through Twentynine Palms and Amboy instead of the traditional I-40 route, just to enjoy the desert drive a little more. Any SD folks heading up around the same time that want to caravan? I'm a little flexible on time but want to get to Laughlin soon enough to enjoy myself a little.
Here's my first post on the board, checking to see if there's a spot available for this weekend! My plans just cleared up and I'd love to join if there's a vehicle opening out of the 15 total. I live in Fullerton and can meet out in NV Thursday evening as planned. Let me know, hope it works out. JohnWelcome.

Could be a spy from Jeep or Toyota, let's keep him away from GeoTaco for a while and see. :-\
Welcome.
I see you are new and have not filled out the required SCCX application or paid your membership dues.
This run is considered a premium event and comands the required "private run fees" as well.
I don't think there will be enough time for the committee to convene in time for this event.
Not to mention that there might not be time to get the secret SCCX Fez that you have to wear to all the events.
So, tell us, John of Fullerton
Would you be willing to don this for an entire weekend in the desert?
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Dude....he is NOWHERE NEAR the security clearance to know about the Fez, let alone wear one.
Requesting permission to join TMR? A PRIOR JEEP OWNER AT THAT?!
Man oh man....this guy has some cajones.
Welcome to the machine, FNG.
;)
John, I think you'll fit in just fine.
But we will we will test you.
Do you have comms in your truck? CB, ham? (tin cups and a string are officially out for this run. Was quite messy last time)
Full disclosure, I'm not only a prior Jeep owner, but a current one. I just want you fellas to have all the facts so that you can make a well informed decision.

HA! JOHN!!! Yes that's me!
Dude I love that. I looked back through the thread and saw your mug. Wait. A. Second... See you tomorrow!
How funny! You're one of the reasons I bought an xterra. Remember when you did that photo shoot somewhere in San Diego and I was your gear monkey? We rode down in your X.
Small world! See you tomorrow!
You guys want to be alone?
Looks like we're going to have to create a "private" zone for Steve and John!!! :)
Jay, we meet at the AVI Friday morning, but most of us get rooms at harrahs Thursday nightJinx!
Jinx!
Thank you Gentlemen
So should I sleep in the AVI or Harrahs parkinglot??

haha i wish, its been super quiet but i know if i was to try and sneak out of san diego i would get like a million calls from work, and being as im the only tech in town right now, im stuck. :(
I'll turn on my APRS. You can just find us.
Thank you GentlemenThere is a KOA right across from the AVI you can legally crash at.

So, this year I will have some stuff on my roof rack.
Should I shlep it inside the Harrahs? Maybe move it into the truck for the night?
Speaking of parking, where is everyone planning to park?
I put letters on a google map to maybe help with a consensus.
A is a parking structure. I don't fit inside, but I think I parked on top last time.

IMO if your showing up at 1:30 am, the avi parking lot near the gas station is where I would crash, then people that show up for the meet can wake you up just in time to leave lol
