Myself and a couple buddies were thinking about attending this event. It goes for a great cause and could be a heck of a lot of fun if we can get a crowd of Xterras down there,,,ahem GhostX, SoCalXTerry,,,SteevO.... and the rest of the usual suspects and public skulkers at large.

Thanks for the reminder Celt
I attended this last year with a charity I work with, 4 WHEEL TO HEAL, a group of off roaders dedicated to taking disabled veterans off roading.
It was a cool event with tons of people in attendance; they do a huge raffle Sat night for tons of great swag, including light bars and a winch.
Hope to see some guys/gals out there this year!!

Yep, that's the group that's running this event. I'm going to be there and hopefully we can get a bunch of representation from this forum.

Well, my personal rig is throwing codes left and right and I am taking her into the stealership this weekend to get the low-down on what the issue is and what appendage they want to fix it, so I'm a 'maybe' at best right now....

So what codes are you throwing. Hasn't this been going on for quite a while?

oh, the standard VDC/SLIP lights are constantly on....and now their buddy, EBRAKE light has joined the party.

the brake light normally means you got low fluid bro

pffft. If it was only that simple.....duh.....
(slinks out of office to check brake fluid)
-
the low brake fluid could also mean your brake pads are worn, so check those too :D

And there are a bunch of posts on the newx about VDC/SLIP lights on. I think most exotic of them entailed taking off the positive and negative terminals and touching them (no battery) for 30 seconds. When you remove the negative terminal the VDC light comes on by definition. I know this because while I have been swapping batteries around I've had them off and on about 5-6 times. Turning the VDC light on everytime. You drive straight get it up to 20 MPH and usually it turns it off. If not stop, turn engine off, restart and drive straight for 1-2 miles. That should do it. BTW, never tried the remove both terminals and cross for 30 seconds. Sounded kind of neat though.
Also I am supposed to have some spare brake pads (60%) and rotor's by this weekend if you are interested.

But here is the real question Terry, are you going to be turning your VDC button on and off at Operation Desert Fun with us?

I am very well versed in the threads you mention, and the lights do not turn off after going straight for X miles; nor do they stop after I turn the truck off then back on.
I have yet to try the battery trick, however. That is next up.

How about your brake pads and rotors Christiaan. They recent?

brakes feel good....not too squishy and yesterday I was the lucky recipient of a brake check via some tool pulling out in front of me w/ about 30ft to stop.
She stopped on a dime and didn't even lock up. She's such a good girl... :)

Make sure you are wearing one of these when you cross the terminals...
