Title: CANVAZ 2014 Hosted by AZXC Oct 3rd-5th
Post by: Hammer on August 14, 2014, 01:47:43 AM
AZXC will be hosting CANVAZ this year!

For those of you new to this event, CANVAZ is a collaborative meetup between California, Nevada, and Arizona Nissan offroad groups.  Every year the hosting state changes, and this year is Arizona's turn.
This is an opportunity for AZ locals to show off some of our beautiful outdoors to fellow enthusiasts.  If you have did not or have not attended Gone this is a great way to meet a lot of the guys that attend that event and make some new friends.

This is typically a large event, and I expect this year to be no exception.  Please post up if you plan to attend as we may need to split up the wheeling groups depending on group size.

The details:

When: October 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Where: We will be camping and running trails in the area of Redington pass.  The camp site will be Here (https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Phoenix,+AZ/32.3033724,-110.6197937/@32.3022865,-110.6173619,1202m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x872b12ed50a179cb:0x8c69c7f8354a1bac!2m2!1d-112.0740373!2d33.4483771!1m0!3e0?hl=en)

CB Channel: 17

Trail leads: Tim (Timh), Ben (coatimundi01), Avi (Hammer)

Current Itinerary:

Friday, October 3rd - arrival/set-up/informal BBQ - no formal trails, possible night run.

Saturday, October 4th - main trail day - Chiva falls, camping, campfire, festivities

Sunday, October 5th - morning quick trail - Chimney Rock Loop (pics Here (http://www.azxterraclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=732.0)) , departure/travel day

Here are some pictures to give everyone an idea of the type of wheeling we will be doing.

If this gets moved to the weekend of the 18th I could make it out and test out my the new mods on my rig.

Unfortunately it seems like no matter what date I picked some people wouldn't be able to attend.  I worked around the dates that the trail leads could run the trails, hopefully it works out for as many people as possible.

I figured I'd just a bunch of different post of people asking about the 18th and I don't know much about the setup of this how this date was picked. But I'm sure I'll out that way sometime this year to play

Sorry about that, not sure why it seems to work for me.  Can someone else test and let me know if the link works.

The site is east of Tucson off of San Pedro River Rd, right before it hits Redington Pass.  So from Tucson follow Redington Rd east, it becomes San Pedro River Rd, and later Redington Pass.  We are camping right off the main road and will post signs.

It's a dispersed campsite in the Redington Pass area.  I don't think there is a specific campsite name for that exact spot.  But we will be sure to post signs so everyone can find it, as well as you can PM for my number just in case you have issues.

I am definitely not going this year.  I will be at Chivetoberfest (Octoberfest) at Alpine village this Friday night, and the weekend is my anniversary/b-day weekend.  Unfortunately CANVAZ is a tough one to make due to the timing for Shi and I.

I will not be able to attend.  Between my truck issues and other commitments this weekend will not work out.  :(

This is pretty sad.  We make a point of reminding AZ that it's there turn to host and I'm the only one going.???

Hey Tim,
Thanks for the great photos of the trip that I, and everyone else was too big a sissy to go on.
Of course the weather looked great and I liked the big rocks, muddy water, especially muddy water and always a Jeep-in-tow.  Not crazy about snakes, especially snakes that can swim.
As the 'active' BOD member, I feel shame.  But I am glad that you went, had a good time and represented us well.
Thanks again for the update.
