Title: Question on Shrockworks Bumper install
Post by: LupinOne on April 16, 2014, 12:03:49 AM
Hi all,

For those of you running the Shrock front and rear, how long did the install for each take?  I ask because I got a rather large labor quote from the boys at ORW in Temecula.  I'll also drop in my Ironman 12K winch on the front.

My understanding is, everything is pretty much plug an play and should bolt up directly.

Thanks for the replies.

They might be quoting you for double rate since bumpers are heavy and normally require 2 people to install.  But IMO 4 hours max as everything is pretty much plug and play.

I bet you could buy some beers and pizza(and a chipotle burrito) and get your stuff installed a lot cheaper with a mod day

Yeah about 1100 in labor just for the bumpers.

The bumpers are supposedly coming in the first week of May.  I would LOVE to knock out a mod day to put them in.  I was going to go with ORW since they did the work on my PRG Advanced Coilover Kit and I was having the bumpers delivered there.  I get the feeling they may not have done an install of the Shrocks as Aaron had to do a bunch of looking things up to quote me.  I'll have to see what he comes back with in answer to my questions.

I normally like doing my own work since I'm a picky mechanic type and like to make sure things are done right. :P

Oh, and I buy very good beer (or the host's favorite... :P )

Lol, ok, let me swing through Houston and grab the bumpers. :P  I might take you up on it when they come in.  Probably have ORW put in the heavier springs (they are quoting 700# rated springs) and align stuff then stuff the bumpers in my rig and take you guys up on the offer if they don't come down on the quote a bit.

Hey John,

We get a few of us together with enough beer and we'll knock it out in a couple hours that is factoring beer time.   I installed my front Shrock by myself with ropes, pulleys and floor jacks.  Two or three would make it easy easy.  Installing the winch I also did.  Toughest part of that is the wiring(but we have a wiring guru amongst us)  once you figure out how the winch installs and if you have to clock it or not  :P
And I have done two rear bumpers those are a snap with a couple of floor jacks.

So lets pick a day when they get in and I'll help for one.

All this certainly won't cost you $1100.    $900 worth of beer maybe  :D

I do not have Toro's skills, but if the Fallbrook area works better, you're welcome to my garage.

UPS called me this morning. The bumpers are in Rialto and will be delivered to ORW Temecula tomorrow.  According to ORW, they get their UPS stuff between noon and 1pm.  I emailed them last Friday to set up an appointment to get my front springs changed out but they didn't get back to me.  With luck, Aaron will call me first thing tomorrow and work me in, maybe Wednesday.  Soooooo cloooose....

Things I need to install:
- Front/Rear Shrocks with rear tire carrier
- Install spare tire onto new rim (thanks Clint)
- Install Ironman 12k wench into front bumper
