Ive got a bunch of tools and spares in my X for that just in case moment on an outing.
I would like to collect a standardized list of what size tools and sockets are needed at a minimum to be able to fix the X on a trail run and am looking for input. That way members can come to this list and see what they need as a start. As you reply, I'll add it to the list below.

Beer...
I was going to say hacksaw, but then i found it pretty good list.
Might have to start putting together some of these smaller items in some sort of go bag.
In the military ground style guys have a go bag... Normally carries 3 days worth of supplies, basically a larger backpack. For all the items not normally on the x it would likely fit in there!

I find vise grips important.
-
21 and 22 box end wrenches, one of those extendable magnets, slipjaw plyers, needlenose plyers
-
A small torch

These are all great suggestions! ;D ;D
Can anyone provide information as to what parts on the X coincide with what size wrench or socket? I'll add them to the list to be sure we cover all the necessary parts.. ???

Along with a crap load of stuff.
I carry a set of
1/4 sockets
1/4 deep sockets
3/8 sockets
3/8 deep sockets
A set of box wrenches
All metric. You never know what youll need. From battery terminals, to shock mounts and axel nuts.
I also carry a serpentine belt, tensioner, radiator hose, tie rods, a half axel, air tools and not your everyday computer reader.
-
I also carry standard wrenches and sockets in a separate bag to fix heeps and fords,

8mm wrench and socket for the alternator ground screw and ignition stuff, variety of different STYLE of wrenches, extra cb radio antenna, extra FRS walkie talkie or battery, a forehead light, extra batteries for flashlights. From the autoparts store HELP! section, i carry a fuel, universal hose and a radiator hose repair/splice kit, a grab-bag of bungee cords,

Throw in a couple ratchet straps. They can be used from broken motor mounts, broken leaf spring centerbolts, re-inflating a blown bead in a tire. Need I go on?
-
Ooooh, good one. I have a grab bag with 6-7 sets of those. Actually, I have 8 or 9 small to med grab bags that I keep under a custom carpeted trunk shelf I made myself. Then you can throw bigger items on top, like coolers and milk crates, and still have the grab bags accessible.

Fire extinguisher. I had to pull mine out twice for other peoples rig.
I have a thick piece of wood for when the surface for the jack is uneven.
For traction in sand when stuck I use the thick rubber floor mats flip upside down.
I keep powerbars and extra water in my trail box, and when I was in the east coast, I kept vodka and hand warmers in the truck. You got to keep warm if you are stuck hahaha.

Actually that is what I use the wet box on the top of X for. Bottom line for Fire Extinguisher and recovery gear(Straps, D-rings, winch controller) is accessibility. Keep them close!!!
I can't tell you how many times I've watched a person unload the back of their vehicle trying to find gear while a vehicle is burning or hanging from a rock.
