When was the last time you guys did a cleghorn trip? or a pilot rock trip?
i'd be willing to lead a run if you guys are interested.
-
I'm down
-
Last time I did cleghorn was late June with the frontiers and some other Xs and I was stock then, now that I've got some mods on id be down for either/or. Never been to pilot rock though.
-
When would you like to do this Steevo? I'm in time permitting.
-
Would either one be good for me to tag along?

Cant speak for Pilot Rock, but Cleghorn is do-able.
-
Sounds good thanks. Ill keep on eye on this one and hopefully I can make this run and have some fun

I'd be in! ;D
-
For those of you that have never done pilot rock. it starts on the east end of lake silverwood and has off shoots similar to cleghorn.
It ends at Highway 173 where you then have 2 options.
1. go home :(
2. Keep going by crossing the 173 and continuing on 3N34 through the pinacles staging area and into bigbear.
along 3N34 there isn't much of in the sense of obstacles but it may be a new area for some of you. It'd probably be a blast in the snow.
Also you can go check out devils hole which is a pretty cool place.
Let me know what you guys want to do. I'm thinking we should do it in mid December.
-
Mid December would be great and as long as there is no snow I should be able to go. My X doesnt like the snow lol

Cleghorn is always fun. Never been on Pilot Rock, I'd like to try it sometime. Count me in for either.
-
I might be a go. Just depends on when we go and how much gas money I have.
Other then the 1/2 PML (front only) and Grabber AT2. Should I be concerned at either place?
-
I did cleghorn bone stock and there were just a few off shoots I couldn't do.

Thank you. I will try and make it there. We dont have a date yet do we? I am trying to make another event at LCC (Last Chance Canyon) as well and its the first weekend of December.
-
we can avoid the weekend of your event. no problem.
I'm thinking Dec 16th or 23rd.
-
Gonna vote for the 16th....23rd is a bit close to YOU KNOW WHAT DAY and I'm pretty sure that's around the time I'll get to go YOU KNOW WHAT shopping...
-
Umm dec 16th and 23rd are both mondays. Do ya mean dec 14th or 21st?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
-
I'm in for the earlier date.
-
ditto for the 14th vote.
-

haha oops. I was looking at Novembers Calendar.. I'm going ot have to do this on the 21st or just wait until the new year which actually doesn't sound like a bad idea.
If there is a ton of snow then maybe going up to play in lytle creek would be an option.
-
I vote for pushing this till after the New Year. With the holidays coming up a lot of us money will be tight.
-
I think snow would be awesome. I might be in a WFR course the 14th - 23rd so After the new year sounds good to me.
-
New Year kick off run??

Sweet!!! I look forward meeting everyone
-
That'll be nice. It'll be good wheelin' with you again Steve.
-
If we start early enough maybe we could end in Wrightwood and go zip-lining in the snow. Navitat I'd going to be running winter tours.
-
It was snowing at my house this morning. I live at 3800'. There is at least 4" of snow in Wrightwood right now and it's still coming down.
-
There is a lot of interest in this run. Do we have a solid date yet? Last I heard it was going to be after the first of the year.
-
I am going to be running Cleghorn next saturday, let me know if you want to join.

Looks like you guys got caught up on a closed trail.
-
Yeah, the top didn't look closed, but there were definitely some hairy spots at the bottom. The rocks at the bottom were tough for the rigs on 31s.
-
Ah I know that closed spot. We used to wheel it when it was open. Its not closed off well at the top.
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
It was fun. It's not closed at the bottom very well either. I went over those rocks easy ;D
Someone must have moved rocks at the top so they could wheel it. We really had no idea until the bottom.
-
been MIA for a while but this sounds like a fun way to get back into things...i would love to go wheelin in some snow!
Adarsh
-
Steevo, what's the story? Are we doing this?
-
Steevo, what's the story? Are we doing this?
.
I'm ready for some wheeling.
-
welcome back Adarsh, let's do it!
-
I was actually just looking.g at the calendar this morning. What do you guys think of cleghorn on the 18th?
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
18th is good for me.
-
Palabra.
-
The 18th sounds great.
-
Muy Palabra!?
If this means we're in.
-

Like swim wear.
-
I thought we were doing Pilot Rock. Cleghorn will do.
-
Well have to do pilot rock soon but lets run cleghorn this time.
How does meeting up gassed up & ready to roll at 9am under the bridge at the cleghorn exit on the 18th sound?
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
9am sounds perfect!
Not like those crazy 'Toro' times ;)
-
I love you too..:-*
-
Well... my kids little league try outs are on the 18th, so Im out.

I'm have to back out on this trip. I have to get tires on my wifes car. For some reason she doesn't like running on tire with the cord showing through. Go figure.
-
Bummer! Next time!

Tim I got some 33s on 17 inch rims and a welder :-p
-
That would be a good look for her Charger. :D
-
See you all there.
FYI, USFS Greg is very interested in the condition of the Cleghorn trail. He said that it hasn't had much recent maintenance so we should take lots of notes/pics for him.
I can give them to him on Sunday when I go out with him for the day.
-
Great news John. Scorin' points for the group ;D ;D Is this going to score AAT hours too? I think so.
-
If not, I'm going out with Greg Sunday morning all day so that WILL rack us up some hours.
-
Sorry guys I'm out on this one, too much homework.
-
Is 2N47 an orphan?
-
Lol... for now..
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
Damn. It'd be pretty sweet to adopt 2N47.
-
Oh you mean an orphan as in the eyes of AAT.. im not sure.
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
Had an awesome time on the trail with you guys today!
Ill be posting pictures soon.
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
It is orphaned. It was one of the trails we had available to us. We went with 2N02 because its more accessible to more people. Only a hand full of SCCX rigs can get to some of the good parts of Cleg.
-
Lupinone did every offshoot with us.
Dude listens to spotters and has got some drivn Skillz.

Good stuff, I'm really bummed I missed it.
-
Thank you Steevo for a great outing. The people, the pace, the challenges and weather were the best.
Oh yeah, and loved my new BFG mudders :P
-
Helped a lot didn't they R. Especially in that silty dirt
-
Definitely a great time out there, the rig handled great. Thanks Terry for the front locker tips. Great day out there, weather was pretty nice too. When's the next wheelin' trip? ;D
-
Absolutely fellas! We'll do.it again.
Isn't there a calico trip in the works up next?
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
Yep. Early Feb!
-
I would like to personally thank Steve for everything he did to make this a raving success. Even with a limping rig he did pretty well. Full service guy all the way to official photog.
Thanks again.

-
You guys are very welcome and thanks for coming!
And Terry.. you had to.mention the limping lol. Only skipped 1 or 2 spots because of the water pump and fan clutch starting to act up. The rig has 420k on the odo and near 300k on that motor.. probably the original pump! Lol
Rebuilding a motor is high on the rigs list right now but she got us there, wheeled all the hardest cleghorn can throw and got us home. Can't ask for much more. All in all was a great day. Catch you guys on the next one.
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
Actually Steve you skipped the easy stuff if I remember.... ;) ;)
-
Haha yeah I did.skip a few things but I don't think they were anything.crazy. I had called it a day but then couldn't resist the fun towards the end. ;D
Btw got a new water pump already.
Time.to prep for KOH!

What did the old one look like? Did it come out in pieces? :)
-
Haha i haven't actually replaced it yet. Just physically have a new one in hand.
