I'm currently using a rear diff skid sold by AC https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/xterra-rear-differential-skid-plate-p-772.html
I don't have any problems with it. During the last trail run on John Bull the main problem I had was that skid plate would contact rocks (as designed to) , but not every time would i be able to slide over them. I would get hung up.
The general thought from everyone on the trail was that I would of had no issues if it wasn't for the skid, they felt it was more harm then good. "The skid is over kill, rather have more ground clearance "
Opening the topic to SCCX. What are your thoughts?

honestly, you don't need a diff skid on an H233B. the housing is very thick and being a 3rd member axle, you don't have a diff cover that can peel back. I don't run one and I drag and hit mine on rocks all the time.
I vote, ditch the skid.

Another vote for no skid
-
I drag and hit mine on rocks
Yep, seen it....
-
there's a poll to keep track of votes

Yep, seen it....
lol.. you saw a big one..
Sometimes when I drive...I stop thinking about driving. [Not Recommended]
Why are people saying no skid in the thread and people voting for protection in the poll? The H233B doesn't need any stink'n protection!
-
guess people think it does
-
No skid!!!!!!!

Toyota axles are built very similar.. when was the last time you saw a KOH toyota buggy run a diff skid?
Sent while mobile, typos likely.
-
only thing that needs protection is the drain plug
-
I agree.
just weld a short piece of tube around the drain plug.
