Title: This Just In!
Post by: Toro on August 05, 2013, 05:08:29 PM
Xterra gets ass handed to it by UTV on crack!

   Sources say,
UTV driver is lucky to be alive because Xterra driver was too busy tending to his 3 children that were in the back seat.
Accident happened on Burns Canyon just west of Pioneer Town and Yucca. CHP was deployed to chase down the MF! That nearly shrunk my (i mean his) family tree.
AAA insurance has in-firmed the poor truck and is currently being pre-op'ed for surgery.

Stand by for updates........

Every one is okay....

I'm happy to hear you weren't tending to said children from the rear drivers door.  Just let me know when and where, I have experience in these types of matters ;-)

Thanks guys, we are all okay.
We were driving down the lower part of Burns Canyon (2n02) near Pioneer Town. A Polaris UTV/ATV was coming the other way so I got up on the right side of the dirt berm. He also went right and went up on his side of the dirt berm. The problem is he ducked back in too  early and hadn't cleared me yet and BAM! There was a small protruding something at the top of his roll cage that broke my window and grabbed my door.
My 1yr old was sleeping right there and was showered with glass. Good thing he was sleeping and had his eyes closed. The guy did stop but "had no ID" and gave me name. Who knows if its real. The Polaris did have CA plates on it so I took pics of it and of the scene. The guy was giving up nothing and I was too consumed with picking glass off my screaming kid to give a crap. He took off and I got moving again too.
As soon as I got into cell phone range I called the CHP. They came to me and started the process. The plates gave him an address up the hill and they were going to head up there.
The police report will shed light on the next part of the saga.

Guy is going to get charge with hit and run. After an accident you are supposed to stay, provide Information and aid. If he took off, with out providing you with contact info, it's hit and run.

So was all the damage basically focused on that door and the rear quarter panel?

Wait where did the pictures go?

Update from the CHP.
The road is a "no fault road". Although there are no signs, the road is a private road. He is not required to carry insurance or ID or have the vehicle registered (which is total horse shit!). Their is nothing CHP can do.
The cop didn't like it when I said "next time I see him, I'm putting 300lb's of plate steel, followed by a 5000lb truck on his dash board, crushing his tin can and saying, 'Sorry bud, it's a no fault road'".
This is exactly the kind of shit that causes animosity towards fellow OHV'ers.

Damn that is bad.   I saying that is a realistic reason for lawsuits.

Glad you are all ok.  And this is a good base for a civil case due to damage and memtal anguish.  Your insurance should be able to handle it.

That sucks to hear, it's why I don't like going up Bee canyon in fullsize rigs on weekends. Too many idiots thinking they are Robby Gordon, I've almost been hit too many times.

Glad you and the family are alright - thankfully Nissan still makes a strong truck!

Let us know next time you're heading there Toro! My paintball gun could use a good day of fun. And frozen paintballs.  :D
