Title: Pleasant Peak & Beeks Place - August 31
Post by: HEVAK on August 01, 2013, 08:33:58 AM: It's been a little while since we've all been together for a group run. This run has a little bit of something for everyone. It's 2WD friendly with some steep 4WD obstacle off shoots. We went up to Beeks during the last Santiago Peak run, and it was a blast. We only went in one direction, and out through an exit by Corona. That exit has since been closed to public use. I've been wanting to do this run in both directions anyways. We'll get to do all the obstacles twice ;D

Lets meet in the parking lot behind Cook's Corner Bar, off of Santiago Canyon Rd. We'll end up back at Cooks Corner, where we can have some post run livashuns.

I'll probably have one or two co pilots along. Promises to be an awesome day! Taking off to backpack into the Golden Trout Wilderness just past Kernville tonight, playing gigs next weekend, end the month with an SCCX run. This August rules ;D

No, you pretty much go up through Silverado Canyon and then turn around and go back down it after Beek's Place. The Indian truck trail would dump you out by the 15, so yeah that would be quite a drive to cooks ahaha.

Post by: steve c on August 24, 2013, 09:59:10 PM: I won't be able to attend this xcursion as I already have camping plans, BUT I did a little prerun for you guys. Sort of. We headed up to Santiago Peak via Maple Springs. Nice drive.

I brought a bunch of water as I knew it was going to be hot. I ended up handing out water to 8 mountain bikers and 3 hikers. They had all run completely out. Paying it forward.

Anyways, here are some pics from today. The X did great even with 35psi in the tires. DOH I knew I forgot to do something

Silverado Canyon (AKA Maple Springs Road) to the North Main Divide, you take the North Main Divide towards the 91 until you reach Beek's Place.

Ill know for sure by Friday as I'm right in the middle of replacing my rear tranny mount and only have time after work :/ but like I posted on CF it should go smoot it's just bolting everything back up and if it goes smooth ill need to try it :D
Iv been up saddleback many many times from both sides(hwy 74 and maple springs) but havnt been to either of the 2 mentioned. Well probably have just never realized it I guess..

Post by: HEVAK on September 01, 2013, 07:04:57 AM: Well, another great run in the books for SCCX. We had a good turn out of rigs with a nice combination of Frontys and Xterras. The run itself was a blast. The trail up to Beeks Place offered up a little something for everyone. We had the usual trail hiccups like a flat tire and blown fuse. We even almost had pull Roberts Fronty out a sticky situation, but with a little bit of guidance from Clint and Alicia, and some nice maneuvering, Robert managed to unstick himself.

It was amazing what Robert made his 2WD, 4 Banger, do on the trail. This one was a little too steep and a little too loose.
