Hey guys,
What run should I be keeping an eye on for a 2wd friendly trip?
I really wanna get out and have some fun soon!
-
Frank B.'s Anza Borrego/Blair Valley/Picotgraph Trail/Julian Pie Co. Xcursions are great 2WD friendly runs.
Skyline Drive in Big Bear is a great 2WD/fire road option.
The Santiago Peak/Holy Jim Trail is another great 2WD option.
Funny, we were just discussing 2WD friendly runs with the BOD.
We just don't get a ton of demand for these runs, and most of the 4WD runs actually require an element of 4WD.
The challenge has been that the population of active 2WD members here is pretty low...and most of the runs reflect that.

The Julian Pie Co one is my GF's favorite!

Well worth the wait...

I will look into those. Im going to be going up to Holy Jim this weekend... GF and I are going to head up to the water fall! Really excited because I have always wanted to do it. heard its pretty cool.
I understand about having a low amount of support for the 2WD drive, I mean if I had a 4WD and put some serious $$$ into it. I wouldnt want to hang with those lame 2WD's :)
I showed my GF this forum last night & some of the rigs you guys have and the trips you take and this was the first thing she said to me, "So... When are you upgrading?"
hhahaa yessss!

Go to their main bakery (where they actually bake the pies) in Santa Ysabel. Easy parking, no line, great view of the mountains from the tables in front. Much easier than actually driving into Julian.

There are several 2WD-friendly trails in Anza Borrego that you can do. Look back through the Pictures section here or check my gallery website if you want to see what they look like (or, better yet, get a guidebook).
Mine Wash - off of Hwy 78. Very scenic, with some nice camping spots along the way.
Blair Valley - except maybe for the little dead-end spur at the far northwest corner. I've seen BMW sedans parked at the Pictorgraph hike parking area, and the rest of it is pretty hard packed. Very scenic.
Clark Dry Lake - off of S-22 at the north end of the Park. You can go about 10 miles up this road. You'll know when it's time to turn around. Don't drive on the actual lake bed, other than the clearly marked trail across the top edge of it.
Outside of Anza Borrego, another nice drive is Palomar Divide Truck Trail, off of Hwy 79 near Warner Springs (not too far from the Pie Company in Santa Ysabel).
These are all the sort of places you don't need to wait for an Xcursion, just go out and do it. Or, post up here and see if anyone else wants to join. The nice thing about these is that they are all very scenic, and it doesn't usually matter if you're 2wd or 4wd, as long as you exercise common sense.

Thanks frank! I will look into these...
Appreciate the help everyone & look forward to eventually wheeling with you

We actually ran up to Santiago Peak in 2WD, on purpose, to test if its 2WD friendly. No worries!!
We're heading up there on June 15th with a bunch of rigs. Hope you can make it.
