Happy Easter everyone - well, except maybe for this bunny.

I've been spending a lot of time at the San Diego Zoo this past year, and most of that has been hanging out with the Malayan Tigers. Sunday is "rabbit day" for the tigers, they get a special treat each Sunday.
You can see more on my blog if you're interested.

Actually, April Fools never even occurred to me. That said, I didn't take this particular shot on Easter Sunday, but rather a few weeks ago. However, if you go to my blog you can see one of the tigers getting her "Easter Bunny" on Sunday afternoon. Quite a mixed reaction from the crowd that was watching, given what day it was.

At first I would have thought that as well, but after watching the interactions at the tiger exhibit over the last few years I've noticed something different. At least with the kids who are around 2 to 3 years old or so, they are just fascinated by watching the tigers eat. As they get older, especially into pre-teens and older, and have picked up "sensitivities" from maybe their parents or whoever, then they complain or get grossed-out.
Right after I took that shot above, the tiger took the rabbit into a little cave that has a glass wall on one side. There were a couple of little maybe 2-3 year-old girls just pressed up against that glass watching the tiger, who was maybe 3 feet from them, ripping that rabbit to shreds and eating every bit of it. They were having a great time. Obviously PETA had not gotten to them yet.
