This is copied from another forum but I thought it would be of some interest to SCCX since we have a Mojave Road trip planned. I am 90% sure I am going to the presentation and Danny might work permitting.
"Dennis Casebier will be giving a Powerpoint presentation on the Mojave Road "From Indian footpath to four-wheel drive recreation trail" on Thursday, Feburary 28, 2013 at 7:00p.m.
The presentation will be at the Victor Valley Museum 11873 Apple Valley Road., Apple Valley, CA 92308. The museum is on Apple Valley Road a long block south of Bear Valley Road.
This event is being presented by Victor Valley's Mohahve Historical Society. Copies of The Mojave Road Guide will be available for purchase, or bring your old, dog eared and dirty copy to be signed!
No RSVP needed but it would be nice if you are intending on coming to post it here so we can be sure to have sufficient seating. No charge for this event."
If you plan on attending this is the link to the original posting. You can post if you are going so there is enough seating.

Looks like no work for the week so I gots me a geo friend that's going with me. We will geocache during the day and visit the presentation at night.

Do you people understand what's going to happen here? If I'm the only one going to the presentation the Mojave Road trip is going to be me talking on the radio all day long about the road and it's history.
Oh wait.....I'm going to do that even if other people attend the presentation or not. ;D

Thanks for the heads up Max...you have geo friends?
I am locked and loaded with Alex and homework that night...or you can bet I would be there.
For any club member that doesn't know, Dennis Casebier is the author of the much lauded Mojave Road Guide: An Adventure Through Time.
This is a really cool book on some great California history, and a very special place for off roading.
Not to mention the site of Danny's Whoop-Dee-Doo Circus every year in the spring. ;)
Check it out if you can...you won't be disappointed.

Max and I were able to make this. I was running a little late and he was kind enough to save me a seat. Dennis is a character and a great person to listen to. He's spent most of his adult life in the Mojave and at one point he walked the entire thing.
He spoke about how the road was used by native Americans, the US Military and eventualy by us. Lots of information from a great historian.
