Title: 285/75/R16 w/ 1.5" wheel spacer cutting question
Post by: BikersCage on February 21, 2013, 06:33:58 PM
I have been searching and searching, but cannot find an actual build or howto on this.

Does anyone know what I may have to cut putting on 285/75/R16 with 1.5 wheel spacers.

I know its a little on the rear portion of the front fender, but im wondering if anyone has some clear pictures of this.

2.5 but it's the extended wheel turn that I believe needs to be cut

I installed ProComp 7089 wheels on my 285/75R16 tires with a 2.5 in lift and ended up triming the inside lip at the back of each front fender plus a major Melt mod to get the fender liner out of the way.  My wheels extended the tires out about 1" to 1.25" from stock.    So I would think that you should be relatively close.

I helped a guy with his Xterra and 33" tires once and it took two people, one to turn the steering in the front and the other to check the clearances.  its a bit harder to check in the rear because you have much more travel.

Rich...you will need to do the same melt mod with the wheel spacers, however with the extra width you may also encounter rubbing on the actual metal fender.

Quick search on thenewx revealed this thread and a good discussion on front/rear wheel spacers:

1.5 Inch Wheel Spacers (http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29840&highlight=1.5+wheel+spacers)

Go to post #7, Rook has some good information for you there.  But there are tid bits sprikled throughout the thread.

Bring it over to my place and we'll whip out the Air Saw. We'll make a nice clean cut.
