Oh, hi there...
Bummed? Feel like you wanted to get your rig dirty at Truckhaven but the event got cancelled?
Well, you've come to the right place!!
Hi, I'm Christiaan. You might know me as xxSVxx or Sandy V. Either way, I'll be your captain for this thread...
So...raise your hand if you want to get your rig dirty Saturday!?!!!
....
Ok....so, I have had Saturday set aside for a bit, so I plan on 4wheeling my rig.
Where? Well...it really depends on the turnout; I'm more than happy to just go bounce around Holy Jim for an hour or two, but if we get more interest, perhaps we can do Main Divide.....or something cooler....something I don't even know about yet....(bonus points if you can name movie/scene)
So...this is the part where you, my faithful thread viewer, throw out some ideas....
If there is enough interest I'll make a proper Xcursion thread, etc....if not, no biggie....I'll be the guy in the black X roaring with laughter in Holy Jim with a grin from ear to ear...
Happy Thursday!!!
:)

I like your attitude. I'm out eiter way with the flu. Jeez, I was really looking forward to it too.
-
What time are you going to Holy Jims ?
-
I can assure you that the road up to the Main Divide will be closed. However, Holy Jim does sound interesting, unless that is closed too.
The reason for a closure is two fold:
1. Safety
2. Trail Preservation - remember Tread Lightly
That being said, if Holy Jim is open, count me in.

Ray, I am not second guessing you at all....I respect your decision to cancel Truckhaven and I would have done the same....especially since neither of us have run it before so we'd be new to it....
That being said...
Holy Jim's 10ish?
-
I might be able to make this, where is Holy Jim?
-
Trabuco Canyon....just outside of Santa Margarita, CA
-
sounds interesting...what kind of run would this be classified as?
-
Low key....I don't have any expectations as far as attendance, so we're going to play it by ear....
-
I'll see if I can make it. I kinda wanted to go a little later in the day so I can use my new HID roof rights ;D

Holy Jim is primarily a Green run, with a couple spots that you get yourself into trouble. However, you have to seek out and finds these spots. It's mostly ruts and river bed. But if your looking to get your rig dirty, this is the place.

Hey, that's my truck :o
Great photo Ray. There's also a hike back to some falls if you want to get your boots muddy as well.
-
I like what I'm seeing Ray but I just detailed my truck lol. I want to get it dirty but at the same time I don't want to clean it after.
-
Does anyone know if Holy Jim connects to Main Divide? I was under the assumption that it did....but I couldn't find it last weekend...
-
For those of you who didn't make it, the Holiday trip last month to Idyllwild was great in the rain :D
It starts on Hwy 371 and Bautista ,over Rouse T/T to the 74, then Bee Cyn. to San Jacinto T/T to Idyllwild.
The meet spot is in Temecula, Shell gas station off of Hwy 15/Hwy 79 exit.
Then run out the 79 to the Aguanga turn off, to Hwy 371.
Hwy 371 to Bautista road, to the Rouse Hill Truck Trail, over the hills to the 74. Quick right/east turn up to the Bee Canyon Trail to Idyllwild.
I'm just sayin'...

That was SUCH a fun trip!! Ending up in the mountains and snow was beyond epic. Such a great day.

Ray, if you think this is a green then my stock 4x4 will do the trick? If so count me in. That being said, think you could bring that 2" Calmini kit for me to buy off ya?
Definitely down for some wheelin' this weekend!! How long do you guys think we'd be staying out?

I've seen Camry's drive through Holy Jim...Heck, I've seen a Prius down there too. We will all be fine, as long as its open. It's a Rabbit Hole, out and back. You can stay as long, or as short, as you want to.
I'll bring the Calmini kit ;)
See you guys on Saturday
-
We're out. We only run when there's camping. Have fun! Stay dry.

See you Saturday morning!!
I'll be there by 10am sharp with two co pilots. Still without a CB so I'll be following classic line o' site style :P Can't wait!!
Edit: Possibly 3 co pilots. The X'll be bearing some weight this run 8)
-
I'm out as well. Hopefully will be able to make truckhaven when it's rescheduled.
-
CB Channel: 24
FRS Channel: 1-24

Heard an odd hum from (I think) my front left yesterday. Real light and only for about thirty seconds every 15-20 minutes but enough to keep me out of the mountains today... Reading around, it could be a hub or a wheel bearing, gotta get the X checked out. :'(
Have fun gettin' muddy guys, I'll see you next run!
-
Sorry you couldn't make it Odinson :(
Here's a short video of one of my favorite parts of the day
