In December 2010, I picked up my new shiny Pro4x and have been enjoying playing around with it. At about 30K miles, while in for a routine service, the tech noticed that one of my axle seals was leaking. They explained that it was easier to change out the whole rear axle than to pull seals and put in new ones, etc.
Warranty is a lovely thing, so no biggie. Swapped out. All was happy.
I'm now at 90K (60k-ish on the rear axle) and noticed a few small seeps. Had the X in for service today and they found that where the Axel Housing Sleeve joins with the differential gear housing, there was seepage/leakage. (Nissan Part 43003 - Axel Assembly Rear w/o Brake)
Sooooo I will now be on my 3rd rear axle assembly. Started with the 1 from the factory, its replacement, and now the one they are ordering which in theory should be here by Friday.
At $2100 and change for the assembly, it's a good thing I got the extended warranty, which is good to 100K. I'm considering looking around at other extensions, if possible.
Anyone else run into problems like this?

Wow! Glad to hear your covered. :o
I'm going to put this on my inspection list. :(
Do you have the electronic locker? If so convince them to let you keep it as a spare...you know for "causing you the inconvenience of your 3rd axle"......

Yeah, my 2010 Pro4x came with all the factory toys. Now I just need to get some upgraded ones... (thinks about suspension lift, beefed up suspension and springs, you know.. the usual... :P )

90k miles in 2 years? HOLY $HIT! That's a whole lot of driving! Good luck!

Usually, Nissans warranty policy on ALL parts replaced by factory technicians, wheather under the mfg's new vehicle warranty or not, is 2 yrs./unlimited mileage. Everyone really needs to read the warranty disclaimer that dealerships give you when you buy the extended warranty at the time of signing.

Thanks S^3, yeah I've been diving into the fine print some more. Fortunately Fontana Nissan is treating me pretty good and no problems yet. My new rear axel assembly is in but I got a letter a couple days ago about the "Strawberry Milkshake of Doom" sooooo.... *cracks knuckles* even though I haven't had a problem (yet), they are going to replace my Trans and Radiator under the warranty program since there is no way to inspect for line corrosion.
