Hey Guys/Gals...
Ok, so I bought my rig in September after owning a 2wd 4cyl for 8yrs.
Bought it as is; with front bumper/sliders/lights/suspension lift, etc.
Catch is; I don't know jack sh*# about 3/4ths of this stuff. Part of the joy of modding from the ground up is getting to know your rig.
Well, as most of you know, this weekend I found out about my Bilstein 5100's and their little snap-ring. Now, I am going to contact Bilstein and get a new one, but I've been advised to get bigger(?), better shocks because of the heavy front bumper, etc.
How can I tell what's a step up from the 5100's I currently have? The shop that installed the lift 'Outlaw Offroad' does not have the best name from people I've spoken to; I called them Saturday to ask about the snap-ring and was put on hold for a good 20min before I just hung up, but I can't judge them on one phone call.

The Bilsteins run @ $80 ea. Sounds like you need to step up to a set of Radflo shocks, @ $210 ea. Fox and King shocks start at $300 and up. Just tell them in advance what you have on the truck and they will custom-valve it accordingly. They are local too, in the 714 area.

I am running the EMU shocks and coils up front with my heavy bumper and winch with no problems.
Just READ, READ, READ all you can on the build pages here and on thenewX site. You should get a good feel for what works in your price range. Good luck, see ya out there soon.

Does Radflo make 'em for 1st gens?

We don't know anymore than you...maybe just breaking and fixing a little longer.
Contact Radflo or PRG Products Christiaan, or Nisstec. They are all Xterra "experts" when it comes to suspension.
And like Randy said, spend a little time doing research on the forums here (checking out Display Case to see what everyone runs) and over at TNX.

Radflo does make several shock/strut options for the 1st Gen X. They custom make every single one that comes out of there. With or without coilover bodies, piggy-back reservoirs, remote reservoirs, custom-rate springs, bumpstops, etc.
