Title: Big Bear AAT Program
Post by: SteeevO on November 20, 2012, 01:49:33 PM
Have you guys considers adopting a trail in the SBNF?

I used to do some AAT work with a few clubs about 5 years ago and it was pretty cool.

I'm definitely interested!  Especially since I only live about 20 minutes away from BB now!

I know the 1N09 needs work.  Just about 1/2 way up the 330.  It was closed this summer due to a washout, but I've noticed recently that the gate has been opened.  Haven't had a chance to run it myself yet, been busy with the move.  Let's get this going!  Anybody else find this idea fun?  Or am I just a loon?

Steve and Doug...I think this is a great idea.  Let's get some people interested and help out.

I think we need to first figure out what we want our level of involvement to be.   Do we, as a club want to make this an every other month thing, quarterly,  etc?  Do we want to officially sponsor a trail?   Since I now live here,  I'm willing to do pre-runs on whatever trail we choose.

Greg,

We have a group of Xterra owners in Southern California that would be interested in hearing more about the Adopt A Trail Program and how to get involved.

I have heard from at least a dozen of our members who would like to be involved and gather some more information about the program.

Please feel free to reach me here at my personal email address, or by cell phone at 760-xxx-xxxx.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Best regards,

John Tyler III (GhostX)
Southern California Club Xterra Member

Let you know when I hear back.

Maybe a quarterly or twice a year commitment?  I read the link and some clubs put up to 800 hours into some of the more popular trails.  :o

Not sure if we have that level of commitment, but maybe picking an easy trail to maintain to start (2N02, Burns Canyon is available) that the Club runs (Rattlesnake Canyon is just off of 2N02) would be a logical choice?

What say you, loyal SCCX members??  :)

Thanks for stepping up as usual John.  Easing into the program and growing is better than full blast and fading away.
Maybe we can have a 'girls day' for digging and driving ;D
