We should have little cards we can put on windshields with the web address.
I just scanned the one and only card I have left. It's the size of a credit card and made of hard plastic. I have also attached a pdf of the SCCX flyer below. I had put some of the flyers in the waiting room of a dealership and someone (Danna) saw it and ended up going on a couple of runs with us. Unfortunately the club member who created the card and flyer is no longer around (that I am aware of) and his website is no longer valid.

I had thought of making a small color flyer on regular paper with the club info and some links to common xterra forums inviting people to check it out. Each person can then print out however many they want and pass them out or leave a stack of them at will.

We actually do have one of those around someplace. I think it printed out 3 or 4 to a page. There might still be some printed ones in my truck. I'll look around and see if I can find the electronic file - or we could make up something new.
What I have is nowhere as nice as those ones that Marshann posted, those most go back even earlier than before I got involved in early 2006.
-
The flyers and card are pretty cool. Like the ideas.

Attached is a jpg of the SCCX flyer in letter size. I have also attached a Word version and a pdf version that has 2-to-a-page jpg images inserted. You should be able to resize the jpg images to whatever size works best.
May even be able to find a home somewhere on the site for the flyer in one of the links on the home page that are not being used. I believe the image was part of the site design before the big crash of '08(?). The flyers were created for use by SCCX and are not copyrighted, so I don't believe it would be a problem.
Uh oh, just saw the "maximum attachment size allowed" notice. Here's a link to the jpg in full letter size (that can be resized) if the attachments don't work. SCCX Flyer (http://sccx.smugmug.com/photos/i-KGXhZVD/0/X2/i-KGXhZVD-X2.jpg)

I got these toward the end of 2003. One of the benefits of being an older member... I mean seasoned member. Shrug. No, I think old is right. ;D

Marshann - even though you've been with the club a lot longer than me, I'm pretty sure I'll always be older than you - so you can't be that old.
Thanks for posting up those flyers. I just looked and what I have is a Word document. I know I can upload a jpg to my smugmug account, but I don't know how to deal with a Word doc.
By the way - John is there any way to move part of this discussion to a separate thread so it doesn't get lost or hard to find? This isn't quite where I would think to look for info on a club flyer.

Ahh, a true politician. I don't know that we ever established that Frank, but even so, I know you're not that old so I stand corrected. ;)

ETA: Okay, forget what I said below. You can save the Word document directly to the site by following the instructions for 2) below but substitute the word "pdf" for "Word document" and of course, the last paragraph. :)
****************
1) You can print the Word document to a pdf printer (FILE, PRINT, select the pdf printer). If you only have a pdf reader, you can download a free pdf converter from cnet. PrimoPDF (http://download.cnet.com/PrimoPDF/3000-18497_4-10264577.html) seems to be the most popular and I have used it in the past. Saves from printing hard copies of receipts and whatnot.
2) To attach the pdf to your post, click on ADDITIONAL OPTIONS at the bottom of the box where you are posting a reply, and then click on ATTACHMENT. Navigate to where you saved the pdf on your computer, select it, and it will show up as an attachment in your message.
3) To convert the pdf to a jpg, open the pdf and then click FILE, SAVE AS, and then click on the dropdown where it says SAVE AS TYPE and choose jpg. However, the free pdf converters may not have that option.
The easiest and quickest way would be to send me the Word document and I can convert it to a jpg for you. Sorry I saved this for last. Had something to do with me teaching you how to fish, rather than me frying one up for you. That doesn't quite sound quite right, but that's the general idea. ;D [analogy inspired by knightrider]
-
Ha ha, I got the whole fish analogy.

Great idea on the flyer. I'm going to try to print some up, there are a lot of X's in my area. In fact, I know that rig, they live near me and i can't seem to catch up to them when they drive by. :-\

All good ideas. :)
Before we go printing and putting on random Xterra's, let's try to get one flyer with a contemporary representation of what exactly the Club is.
I don't want a lot of new members coming to the Club with unrealistic expectations. This might be a good dinner topic on Saturday night before everyone gets foggy.
Tim - if you are good with playing around with the original flyer that Marshann provided, as far as editing text/photos etc., let me know. Let's do that and then proof with the active members here, and figure out exactly what we want to say on the flyer etc.
But let's talk and have a unified focus before we get busted for littering or solicitation. ;)

Done Frank. This might be a better location than the "Spotted" thread to discuss club flyers.

If someone has an original or really clean copy, I can mess with. I have graphic artists in my office that can clean it up make the adjustments.
-
I am working on a flyer with Microsoft Publisher here in the office too.
Let's all work on this and go from there.
Thanks Tim.

PM sent with better copy but not the original.

Flyers work so well, (for the most part) we use them over at AZXC. I keep about 20 in my glove box just in case I see some an X I dont know.
Staples or some place like prints these for not much and good think paper and it looks pretty good. If anyone wants to see one in person let me know and I'll have them with me in BB.
-
Definitely need to update pictures, we should try to get some of the whole group at Bb since we will have a big turnout, but not hard parking in vons haha, somewhere with a view.
-
I worked on this today, for some reason the logo and yellow font didn't transfer when I converted it to PDF.
-
flyers are a great idea :)
-
Nice! I can't believe you put that together so quickly. And nice touch with the shadows around the inset pictures. Need more silver Xs representin' tho. ;) Okay, and maybe some lava red if they behave. :D
I had to view it at just shy of 50% so that the images didn't get stretched out, but it may be my monitor. I think the logo and font issue may have something to do with MS Publisher rather than the pdf. Most pdfs will not allow you to hyperlink as this one does when you click on the site's url at the bottom of the page.
Since we don't have dues, I have seen other sites where members that contribute to the expenses of the club receive a designation as "sponsoring member." We may want to consider that to help pay for the cost of printing the flyers. I think we also owe someone for the cost of creating the banner as well. Just a thought.
A good motivation for everyone to show up for CANVAZ II is that they will forever be a part of SCCX history when they appear in the group photo or their rig is highlighted on the SCCX Flyer. ;D

^^^^^
That's not a bad idea.

Does the BOD have an opinion on this?
