Title: New Volunteer Ops
Post by: s14slide on September 23, 2012, 12:43:40 AM
Was wondering if anybody was still posting up volunteer opportunities?  I haven't read through all of the threads in this sections, but does SCCX sponsor a trail or ever thought of sponsoring a trail as a club?  Being that I'm AD Military, I'm always looking out for volunteer oportunities.  The way I see it though, if I'm going to volunteer it should be something I enjoy doing.  I don't enjoy getting scratched up by mangy cats or bit by dogs at the local shelter, I have my own dogs that bite me thank you.  I don't like picking up used syringes and condoms on the side of the freeway, I have more enjoyable ways to get a disease.  And in all honestly (generally speaking) kids other than my own tend to get on my nerves, it's enough work trying to help raise three overenergized boys.  So building homes for the needy or taking care of trails and spending time in nature.  Doesn't seem like a tough pick to me.

We haven't gotten organized in a volunteer trail/community fashion just yet.  We aren't an officially sanctioned/chartered/incorporated Club...more of a gathering point.

What we might look into is assisting with Just Runs or Tierra Del Sol with one of their efforts in adopt a trail/desert clean up and help in that way during one of their events.

If you become a member of the CA Assoc. of 4WD Clubs, they have a really good calendar section and tons of volunteer work from all the clubs in Ca.  You should look into it.  Most of us are already members.

Well Doug...looks like we are getting a little organized now.

Thanks to everyone for pushing the club in this direction.
