So with the awesome time last weekend up at Big Bear behind us, what's next? Few of us were talking about doing a Meet'n'Greet/Show'n'Shine/Mod Day? Anyone want to head this up? Some things to consider are a centralized location, enough space for the rigs, maybe give who/what ever business in the area a heads up to SEVERAL Nissan rigs being in the area.

...Bueller?

I'll be your Huckleberry!! I have some good ideas, and possibly a sponsor. We can even throw some dirt and rocks in the mix ;D
-
The Club Frontier guys are running Santiago Peak on the 30th...which might be fun for a few of us to attend and connect with them.
For more info CLICK HERE>>>> http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f38/socal-meet-greet-80067/
Enrique/henrypro11 has been bouncing back and forth between our site and theirs. They have been very complimentary about SCCX and how organized a group we were (nice job guys) with banners/stickers at the Cuatro Meeto at Fontana Nissan.
Also...the mod day idea is great! Challenge with doing this at a place of business is "liability" with everyone working on their trucks...sooooo...methinks we need to find a Club member willing to donate their garage/driveway for the event.
I know a few of had discussed this in Big Bear...putting together a pot luck barbecue, BYOB, etc. etc. etc.
I have a place we can use for a Club Barbecue/Meet & Greet, but it is pretty rural.
Which = hot weather during the day right now.
We could do a day/afternoon/evening Club Meet & Greet & Barbecue there, maybe even a green trail run around there...Grapevine Canyon trail...Jesper Jeep Trail.
Let's keep the momentum going here! Good stuff/thoughts!
-
Any potential dates for the next one ?

Alex, from AOE 4x4, has volunteered his shop for the mod day. He even said he'll feed us.
-
Orly... is this the guy that made your sliders?
-
OFF ROAD PERFORMANCE PARTS is in for a a little sponsor action....
-
All we need now is a date......any suggestions?
-
Anyway to make it on a Sunday
-
I would love to attend!
-
Anyway to make it on a Sunday
x2
Because of my work schedule, Saturdays are out for me so I am not as active as I would like to be. No worries though. I'll just keep a look out for events that I can make.
-

Who is Orly?
-
lol sorry... my geek is showing. Orly is oh really. I forget to filter my geek side every once in a while. :)

Ha Ha Ha!! Never filter your geek side. Let it flow.
To answer your question, Yrly (Yes Really) that's the guy that built my sliders, AOE4x4. He's all about it!! He said we can get together at his shop for a meet and greet, eat, he'll supply the BBQ, and go do a run. Probably through Silverado Canyon up to Santiago Peak. I know the Frontier guys are doing a run up there on the 30th, but I'm going to Pre-run it this Saturday.
-
i would like to join you let me know if its ok
-
I'm in for a mod day, just need to know when and where.
-
I'm in for a mod day!! I need to install my lift!! Coilovers, UCA's, AAL, rear Bilstein's.

-
So?? Where are we all going to invade next!?!?!?
I know we just got together for a Mod Day and a fun run up Silverado Cyn, but my wife washed the truck already and I can't wait to get it dirty again.
LET'S DO THIS!!!!

Any thoughts ideas?
Here are mine, especially since it is summer!
- Beach day - Only if we can drive on it
- Water park - Only if we can drive in it
- Theme park - Only if we can drive through it
- Hungry Valley OHV park - Fo Sho!!
- Azusa Caynon OHV park - Fo Shizzle!!
- BBQ/Party (someone's house/out on the beach) - Don't threaten me with a good time
IMHO 8)
-
Hungry Valley (Gorman) is awesome. It's bro nation out there 8)
-
Well...IMHO...
I don't recommend another "Combo Day" where we try a social/Mod/Run day in one fail swoop.
We would like to have our SO's speaking to us and happy to wash our X'es for a long time to come (BTW Ray, how the heck did you arrange that??? Out all day with the boys, and Ashley steps up and WASHES your Xterra for you...you my friend are one lucky dude)
Back on topic.
What does everyone want to do for the next get together???
A. Wheel
B. Wheel and camp
C. Barbecue get together
D. All of the above
(http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk299/dchdman1/iraqi_po.gif)
Please vote once and dip your finger in the ink well on the way out. :)
-
I for one would like to wheel and camp. Mojave Road and the Gold Mountain/Jacoby Canyon trip should be good examples.
-
I'm in for all the above.
-
I want to see that new movie called Ted.
-
Oh my GF wants to see it also so i'll probably go with her. So in that case I'm in for Azusa Off road park. I want to see OZ put that place to shame. I'm thinking about doing Mojave Road this fall and Death Valley too.

It USED to be my Xterra, now it's the Mother Ship. Ashley (Foxy Momma) likes a clean Mother Ship. Luckily, Foxy Momma also likes a pissed off Mother Ship that's able to climb over and through stuff. But, yes, I'm very blessed.
I vote for Hungry Valley...
-
I am definitely in for A
Maybe even B
So long as I only have to bring beer, then C
D sounds suspiciously like a "Combo Day" ::)
-
Hey Ray,
What about Hungry Valley? Have you any experience with that place? I've played around a bit up there one Saturday afternoon, nothing serious. But the have a pretty interesting obstacle course Rocks, mud, etc.
-
I do not know a thing about Hungry Valley. I've just heard the Gorman has a bunch fun places to wheel.

Hungry Valley basically has a little bit of everything. I live about 20 minutes from there. I'd say a majority of it is 2wd friendly but there are some challenging 4wd trails to do but I haven't gone on any of those trails. There are alot of prerunner racers out there and it would be good for an overnight camping or just having a bbq and maybe some night time wheeling.
-
I've been up there with my X. It is 2wd friendly and you can choose which obstacles to do. Some are pretty hardcore, off-camber and steep.
-
SO WHERE ARE WE GOING TO INVADE NEXT??
-
Well from what I've seen of your rig ;D You should be up for nearly anything?
-
I wish it was ready to go, but these things take time :'(
-
...?
-
There's nothing in the books for November??
LET'S DO IT!!!!!
-
Is there a Death Valley trip in the future?
Or Saline Valley?
-
Chris I think that's a great idea.... Death Valley!!! Has anybody been there recently? I've heard there are ALL kinds of things to do there.
Alex (AOE) was telling me that there are even first come first served cabin(s) around there capable of handling a group of people. (He did a weekend there roughly a month ago with his jeeper buddies)
-
i was there briefly on my way back from vegas the weekend you all went to cleghorn. didnt have much time there but did titus canyon/ leadfield rd. nice trail that is 2wd friendly and a nice ghost town to explore. i heard they had bad rains that made alot of the trails very interesting, but it looked like this one had been recently graded. definetly want to go back for a full weekend to explore more
-
I'd like to give Calico a shot too.

I know the club went ther for several days @ 4 years ago. We do have to make a special precaution for those who dare go out there to watch their cooling system and have their trucks in tip top shape. There are no auto parts out there.

Several days out in the desert sounds great ! Exploring ghost towns would be awesome as well. That would really suck if someone over heated out there....

I'm thinking about setting something up at Blair Valley in Anza Borrego for the weekend before Thanksgiving (17-18 November). In the past we've traditionally done Fish Creek and Sandstone Canyon, what people referred to as the "apple pie" run because of the large turn out and group lunch (with apple pie) but last year only one or two people showed up (in addition to some friends I had brought along) so I changed the route.
This year I'm thinking maybe we do more of a social gathering, and make it someplace that is both stock and 2WD friendly to get broader participation. People who want something challenging and 4WD could then camp on Saturday and do something on Sunday. Blair Valley is a good spot for this - unless it turns out to be a really cold day. We can get in some good hikes in between cruising the easy trails. There are lots of great camp spots there for anyone who wants to stay over, and in the morning you can head off to Diablo Drop Off, The Squeeze, or a few other spots.
Let's see what sort of interest there is before I post this up. If you want to see pictures from previous trips, just look for Blair Valley Anza Borrego in the Pictures forum.

I'm in for a 1 dayer in Anza Borrego.

I might do one day.
-
I'm in. I can bring an oven to warm to warm the Apple pie. :-)
-
Frank...I am out of town that week for the holiday. If you put this together, I am sorry I will miss it.
Nothing better than a day trip to Anza Borrego and Julian pie.

Sounds fun, though I too will be out for the 16-18 Nov timeframe. Gotta get some paintball time in too! ;D
-
No go for me. Ill be moving that weekend.
-
If Alex is going, I'm going with my new PA to torment John while he's geocaching.
-
Sorry Ray, no John means no Alex :( But come anyway. I'm in!!
-
I can bring an oven to warm the Apple pie. :-)
And if I win Steve's (Rugged Rocks) ARB fridge/freezer raffle, I'll bring the ice cream. ;D If I am able to go, it will be a last minute decision depending how late I work the night before. Hitting the trails in Anza is a great way to spend the day.
-
Did someone say "Warm Apple Pie" ;) ;D
-
Well, it's now looking like I may need to work the weekend of 17-18 Nov, so that Anza Borrego trip might not happen for me. If it does it will be very short notice. Sorry. Maybe someone else can set something up out there. It's great this time of year, and there are plenty of guidebooks available for people who don't know the trails.

That's too bad Frank, hopefully someone can take the lead on this. I will be out of town from the 16th through the 26th.
I got your message, been getting homework wrapped up for Alex. I will try to reach out tomorrow. Thanks.
John, GhostX
