Title: Skottle
Post by: Celt on November 15, 2021, 05:08:39 PM
I have seen these for some years now and I know many of you have them and use them regularly. My question is are they your 100% go-to? I clearly understand the benefits of wok style cooking and once you get it good and seasoned nothing much is going to stick. Some of the draw backs I'm seeing is they are really expensive. I don't mind paying for quality so I'm wondering if this would really be a good investment vs. size, space etc. The other things I'm curious about is do they really work in high winds like Winter Mojave Rd high winds? Does the cold affect them? I think I remember Jayrat having trouble until he could warm his propane bottle. Do you have to fight to keep the stove lit. The other limiting factor is the fuel source. I know nothing is perfect but do you think the small 1lb bottles work enough or do you need to have say a 5lb bottle? I really like the design and the extended legs to raise the cooking platform up to a comfortable height. I'm just wondering if this is right for me so I want some realy work opinions now that they have been out for a long time.

If you want to "try before you buy" I have one that I haven't used in years.
You're welcome to borrow it for an extended period of time.

That's a really neat idea Jay. For some strange reason I thought you had a Skottle and didn't realize you built your own. I'll pay more attention to it the next time were out on a trip.
