In another thread Don (Goldfish) asked if I could fix him up with an SCCX loincloth to wear to the Marshall South home site on Ghost Mountain. Since none of us want to see him (or anyone else) looking like Marshal, I'll see what I can do in the short time available. I'm thinking it will look something like this, but with the club logo on the front. Actually, I'm not even sure there is a back.

You should know that the picture below, of Marshal South, depicts the preferred mode of attire at Yaquitepec. Bring plenty of sunscreen.

At the foot of the trail up to the house there was a sign, that read as follows:

That is a great find Frank! Since our last trip, the people, the place and the harsh environment really captured my interest. Finally got to see what's "behind" all this...

Now about those loincloths... do they come in XXL?  :D
Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst!

At least you were not on the last leg of the famous Area 51 /Red Flag exercise trip when Mitch and Dan wanted to go to a no clothing allowed hot spring bath. I am still receiving counseling.........

Do you mean Brokeback Hot Springs?  That spot was recommended by Bobby.

Dood! There's NO amount of counseling that would help to heal a scar like that... :o

Sorry to break up this party but I have a question. Is anyone bringing a firepit? Should I bring firewood?

Good Q.  Anyone know if that site has fire rings?  I can bring a bundle of wood but i dont have a ring.  I'm still not 100% on if I have to work but it's looking more like I can make this run and camp Saturday night.

If I go Frank and Fred do you want to caravan out on Saturday morning?
Jeff

Regarding fire rings: None of the primitive camps in that part of the Park have fire rings or stoves. In fact, Fish Creek Primitive Camp is the only one of them that does have any.  If you want to have a fire you will need to have it in a metal container of some sort, and pack out the ashes.

If anyone from San Diego wants to caravan, I plan to leave my house at about 0800, which should allow time to stop at the Julian Pie Company just as they open at 0900. I will pick up a couple of apple pies to go with lunch.

Also, I may have been slightly off on my estimation of distance south on S-2 from SR-78 to the Blair Valley Primitive Camp, but in any event it is just before Mile Post 23.  From the meet spot we will backtrack north on S-22 a short distance to the start of the trail.  Just keep an eye on the left for the Super Secret Meet Spot that Mitch was kind enough to post a picture of. There may not be a sign that actually says Blair Valley, but there is an Historical Marker sign, and a campground symbol sign.  It's clearly marked on all the paper maps of the Park, and even on the AAA San Diego Region map.

I don't have a firepit so unless someone says they are bringing one I won't bother bringing any wood. Is anyone else besides Paul and I camping overnight?

I'm bummed as I will be missing this run... I was even looking forward to going "South"  :o
At least the camera ban is now lifted.  :D
And yes... you may cancel your counseling appointment for next week.  ;D
Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst!

Thinking about going for Sat. - the "clothes optional" for real? I was going to bring my 12 yo - we may do some wheelin, if you guys think the Marshall part is gonna be too revealin!
"Out of every 100 men you send us, 10 should not even be here, 80 are nothing but targets, 9 are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they the battle make. Ah, but the one, one of them is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.
