Knightrider suggested we do some group meals for the Mountain Rendezvous. I'll try and get a headcount of everyone in attendance so we can get an idea of how many volunteers and amounts of food we need (I think guessing maybe 26). It's often times the same guys volunteering to do this feeding people so now is the time for some of the newer guys or ones who have not cooked for folks to jump in or at least help the cooks with clean up. This is a tentative plan and will evolve just please post up here so I can get a grasp of who is doin what. Since I said I would be everyone's Huckleberry here goes with the tentative planning:
Sept 8th.
Happy hour might be a fun idea early-ish evening when people start showing up, Wine/Cheese/Salami/Crackers. I'll bring some of all of the above if others will help out a little with same. Hopefully everyone can be there by about 1800 so we can start serving dinner maybe 1900 and still have daylight left? Everyone should bring their own lunches as we will be about as organized as a herd of cats during the day.
Sept 8th.
Happy Hour: Celt= x2 bottles red wine w/salami, cheese and crackers assortment.
Sage Bromax= x2 bottles red wine feta dip w/pita crackers.
Dinner:
1. Celt= Bratwurst and sauerkraut.
2. CAWoody= Carne Asada, tortillas.
3. Jayrat= Scalloped potatoes.
4. Scuba Dale= Sloppy Joes.
5. Green Acres= Dinner side dish.
6. Steve C= (Bringing something undecided).
Sept 9th:
Breakfast:
1. JFanaselle =Bacon for the masses!
2. Jayrat= Cinnimon biscuits and butter.
3. CaWoody= Hashbrowns.
4. Jeff Bett= Eggs.
5. Sage Bromax= Fresh fruit/ Biscuits an gravy.
Dinner:
MRV Dutch oven competition/potluck awesomness.
Sept 10th.
Bring your own breakfast.

This is for the Mountain Rendezvous event, which is taking place in mid September. The event is hosted by the American Adventurist group, and this year we have 17 SCCX and SCCX-affiliated rigs that will be attending. The event is currently at capacity, but they're creating a waiting list. More info can be seen in this thread: http://www.sccxterra.com/smf/index.php?topic=4279.0;topicseen
Celt - put me down for bacon on Saturday morning. I'll bring 4 lbs of the usual good stuff.

pretty much all my off road trips have been to fend for my self for breakfast so I am not to experienced with group prepping food. I certainly will help out with anything asked of me but I am not good a planning or organizing this sort of thing. Its one of the reasons I finally chose to go to an organized event to see how others do this stuff.
I assume there would be eggs involved in a group breakfast, I can bring a bunch of them, would it work best that they are already blended in a jug ready for scrambled? How many would anyone suggest?

Don't worry about the organizing, that's what I'm setting up. Bringing eggs for breakfast would be awesome. Do you have a griddle/stove to cook them on that you can bring? We can easily set up a few stoves together etc. and have a chow conga line for everyone. If you want to bring them scrambled that's fine unless you want to do eggs to order (But that's a lot more work). Since it seems like were going to have about 26 people about two dozen eggs should work.

Scallop potatoes (dinner)
Thanks Jay.......
Ok guys, Jay has stepped up yet again pony up here. If you can't cook come help do some prep work or dishes so the same guys aren't doing all of the cooking and clean up.

I (or we) will definitely kick in with some food. Just not sure what yet. I will be heading out for a retreat tomorrow (i.e. no comms at all) so won't be able to get back to this until the beginning of next week.

Gotcha down, thanks!

It's looking like were doing pretty good for breakfast. I think some dinner sides might be good at this point if we get another person that can bring food. I was going to ask Woody to bring potato salad but we all know how that goes and I don't need our resident Canadian getting knocked over by a fleeing Ursus Horribillus that got happy feet after being caught with the goods.
-
I am still trying to determine when I will make it up that Friday. Probably won't leave until after work and then there is Fri. traffic......
-
Put me down for Sloppy Joes on Friday night.

Well done Dale! It's the new blood that keeps this 'not a club' going. I normally help with breakfast, but if you got that covered, I will pitch in on dishes, clean up, and bring lots of fire wood (of course).
Thanks to the usual suspects for stepping up again.
If you're not a cook or don't know what to bring, don't be shy, bring somptin' to share and jump in where you can. This is a great group. I'm so looking forward to this.
Thanks for taking point on food Celt.

It looks as if there is still a suggestion to bring dinner sides; I'll be happy to bring a couple of sides, need to talk to my wife (awesome cook, but not coming :( ) about what sides, but I'll bring something. And, more importantly, I haven't forgot about brining a "healthy" amount of quality English beer!

Yes, yes I agree that beer will be quite tasty... Maybe the Happy Hour if that takes off. I'll put you down for a dinner side, don't worry about bringing two different ones one is enough. Much appreciated!
-
From the looks of everything we should be just about set for the vittles. Big thanks to everyone who is helping out!!
And no Woody, I ain't givin you no stinkin hug there.
-
After consulting the master chef, it has been determined that for Friday we will bring two bottles of red wine and feta dip with pita bread. For Saturday breakfast we will bring fresh fruit.
-
It looks like we have this all sewn up in the vittles dept. Should be a great feed and nobody will go away hungry or not get something they don't like with the assortment of food that's being spread out. Thanks for stepping up guys to make sure everyone is well fed!
P.S. Who is bringing the apron for the Duffman since he volunteered to be the camp maid?
-
So who all from our group is doing the Dutch Oven competition? And if it is not a trade secret, what are you cooking? Or have we got a separate thread going for that and I missed it?

No separate thread that I'm aware of. I decided not to do it this year because I have to haul everything up to the main fire and hang out there while I work as no fires are allowed in the individual camps. I'm more wanting to attend the event and not do a whole lot other than rest. I have not heard of anyone else entering the competition.
-
I'm out this year, I'll have the Little Man with me ,
-
Adding an additional breakfast item: biscuits & gravy.
You didn't think I would only bring fruit. Seriously. ;)
-
as Tony is bringing biscuit
change mine to cinnamon buns
