Well this was turn of events.
2 weeks ago, me and the fam decided to head up to Serrano campgrounds up at Big Bear to camp and try out our new RTT. well our 2nd gen X decided it didnt want anything to do with it. Trans gives out again. 3rd time to be exact. Lucky me that im within warranty and the X is getting a new trans for free. Wife was devastated and didnt want to get in the X no more. So as a good husband that I am, got her a new car.
Welcome our new rig. 2018 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4.

my 1st gen is sold and once I get the 2nd gen back, I will post it for sale. With what ever money I get out of that, I will search for another 2nd gen X (in 4x4) or frontier.

Nice.
Those new 4Runners look like they should be pretty good.
-
The grill looks like a Storm Trooper O0
Happy wife happy life.
-
Looks good. I would probably go the same route and sell the 2nd Gen X for another one or build the 4Runner......
-
I keep telling my wife that if anything ever happens to the X, we'll have to replace it with a 4Runner. Nice job Edwin!
-
Nice swap. I've been feeling a little guilty, :-[ the beginning of July I bought a new Tacoma TRD 4x4 Offroad and haven't posted anything yet. I still have the X but will be transitioning to the Taco over the next year or so. Glad to hear so many are looking at the other side of the fence.

Edwin, nice job on the wife's vehicle. Good safe vehicle for her to cruise around in with the youngin and that hound!

Hey you guys.
while I'm very happy for Edwin, that is no reason to turn this thread into an X bashing, Taco sucking act of treason.
I won't stand by while you bad mouth America... OK, so the're both Japanese rigs, but still

thanks gents, all love here, no bashing on the X. This was not an option for me since it was the wife's bday gift TECHNICALLY. :)

No X bashing here mister BOD sir. I love my X. It's gotten me out of more than one sticky wicket (we don't need to discuss how my wicket got sticky in the first place, this is a family site). With close to 240k miles things are starting to go a little soft and it's getting more expensive to fix them. I bought the truck because I needed the bed and there just isn't enough room in the back of an SUV to carry the big stuff.

No worries, just bustin your bearings. In fact, if I don't get all these stupid trouble codes to quit, I gonna get a '74 Bronco :'(

I had a geology project back in the mid-80's in the forests of northern California and I was assigned an FJ-40 as my field rig. Friggin' awesome climber! It would go anywhere I pointed it.

My parents had an old FJ when I was a kid. Man I loved that thing other than getting in during the winter waiting for that heater to get going, brrrrrr. Maybe that's why I got so used to the cold and love it now? I wish car manufactures would start re-creating some of these older models and add in a few of things like ABS, EFI they would sell like mad I think.

Uh they brought back the FJ and it lasted a few years and Ford is bringing back the bronco.
