This weekend I got my first battle damage on the trail.  The bumper will push out easily enough, I'll need to find some touch-up paint for the sheet metal to ward off rust.  Looks like I'll be changing a cam position sensor as mine must have gone bad as it now sputters and dies at stops, luckily it did not do this until I got off the freeway near home from driving all the way from the Bishop area.  I think I'll start carrying a spare.

Wow crystal clear rear glass.  Did this happen on the road or when you got home?  Looks like a  run to the border (junkyards) is in order, there are plenty with intact glass.  Dave and I have a lengthy list for the junkyards. next Sat. would have been perfect but camping is more fun.  Let me know if you are going down, I may try to work something out.

I was just driving down 15 just past the 78 and the rear window just exploded.  I believe the point of impact was in the lower right, just below the SCCX sticker.  It's possible the events from earlier in the day had something to do with it and it was compromised already but hard to say.

I already have an appointment with a Empire Auto Glass for today to get it replaced, can't go driving around without glass falling everywhere.

Wow.  I didn't think you had the back very full on trips so I wondered if something hit it inside just right.  Makes me wonder, that's probably about the spot my cam position sensor went.

Picked up my White Knuckle Sliders on Saturday, prepped and painted them yesterday. Thinking the install will take place tomorrow or Wednesday evening.

It's like Deja Vu ;)

Every time I see a set of these being installed, I'm sad that I have shrockworks sliders instead of WK.

LOL, my wife literally said the same thing about deja vu! I told her, "at least its cheaper than my initial plan of dropping too much coin on an 80 Series Land Cruiser".  :P

I installed them last night, gosh I missed having them on the X!

Installed the HD add-a-leaf in my Medium Duty Old Man Emu leaf pack. So far, I love the slightly stiffer ride (I don't care what all the reviews say, it DOES NOT ride like a dump truck), and I was able to drop down to the middle hole on my PRG shackles and still gained about 3/4 of an inch of height in the rear, which now has my truck sitting PERFECT (I had a slight sag / bro-dozer look going on, which only got worse when I was loaded down for a trip).

I took GlamisDude's advice and installed some shims within the pack to cut down on noise (note: I was not experiencing any squeaking or noises, but from what I've read, I figured it was only a matter of time. The leafs have been installed since I did my axle swap about 8 months ago). He's got some great advice in a thread over on TNX. Unfortunately, I was not able to drill into the AAL themselves (burned through 6 drill bits trying), so I don't have the shims installed everywhere in the pack. I'm hopeful that they stay quiet. I did notice that my OME bushings are already in pretty bad shape (another widely-commented issue within all of the reviews). Had I thought about it ahead of time, I would have had a new set of bushings ready to install today, but I guess I'll just run these ones until they're too sloppy to tolerate.

I went out on a little ride and smashed up my stock step rails a little and tested out the new aluminum skid plates I put on. The skids are awesome!
I figured I would use and abuse the step rails a little before removing and putting on some proper sliders. Looks like White Knuckle is the fan favorite. Any other brands I should look at?
