Just felt like sharing, anyone on the market for a back up HAM or just a first, low cost radio take a look at these:

I know a few sheriffs who have at this point ordered about a dozen over the last 6-8 months and are all very happy with the unit for a back up, gift or first radio. Taking my HAM course/test early January so this'll be my next purchase. Happy holidays & good hunting.

Thanks for the tip. Unbelievable price :o
-
Does anyone own this radio?
-
My neighbor is the president of the Fallbrook Ham Radio Club and he and his buddies bought one and think it's great!
-
That's awesome. Im studying to take the exam and am thinking of picking this up as my first unit.
-
Wow...that's cheaper than an FRS...so much for that objection.
It's official...I now see no logical reason not to own a ham radio.
-
My roommate just got one for his birthday, it was his motivation to get his ticket. You definetly need the manual for this guy with you at all times. But it does the job and does close the gap for all you cheap bastards, $45 for a radio and $5 for your ticket, no reason not to get it now suckers.

I'm signed up to take the class and exam offered by some local volunteers. I saw it posted on just runs and there may be some affiliation with ECRA.

I have heard good things about the new Chinese radios... it's just crazy how inexpensive they are.
We'll be testing, wheeling and playing radio up in Frazier park this weekend with OAUSA.
Testing is at the McGill campground from 10AM - noon on sunday.

I have a TYT HT I use as a backup and while on hikes. I like it a lot. It won't replace my mobile setup by no means, but I do like it.
